Legends of Asgard: Max Relief the star of a beautiful new Odin coin

I get what you are saying Silverpv - it's been a rough past 3 weeks for silver and possibly the worst time in many years to release a collector (numismatic) coin because of the (temporary) very noteworthy spike down in the spot price (lowest point it has reached in years). That means, for some stackers who are also collector coin buyers, more of a focus on the lowest premium blobs.

Of all the recently released numi coins within the past month though, this "Max Relief" Odin coin seems to have gotten the most attention and stands (literally, relief-wise) considerably above the rest.

.

It has really high relief but the details are just not sharp enough for my liking, the coin may do well reselling etc, but could have been so much better imo as regards to the poor detail/sharpness.

Are you asian? Cause you sound like my mom! ;) "A is not A+!", "B is for Bad!!!"... j.k.

It's Brass and so expensive! Such a beautiful medallion though.

Actually, those are probably the silver medals (a little difficult to tell in the bottom 2 pics)....each design is minted in silver and brass.

You should check out many of the threads in the "Modern Chinese Coins & Medallions" sub-section of this forum if you haven't done so already...you might be surprised at how amazing the high relief Chinese silver medals actually are.

It looks like prices on the Odin coin are moving up again on all dealers sites:

$184.90 and $199.90 to get the same serial number on all releases - https://firstcoincompany.com/S/index.php?route=product/search&filter_name=Odin

.

It's only up $5, not significant enough to call it a winner yet... Hopefully it does well.

So what if it went up $100? Would that be significant enough?

Because it did..... http://firstcoincompany.com/S/index.php?route=product/search&filter_name=Odin

Still $100 cheaper from choicemint... :P

Do you buy at all your silver @ APMEX? ;)

Local dealer here still have a lot of sets, at around 180 USD.

Don't see them selling out anytime soon. Market saturation?

Interesting, the price of this coin has risen previously at the same time with Choice Bullion and FCC. This is the first time the increase is only from one of the dealers....thus far.

Only purchased a few pieces from APMEX mainly because I get charged sales tax....so to avoid that added charge, I mostly buy elsewhere.

I was just kidding... It looks like it went up another $5 though. I still hope we have a winner!

Hello everyone!
Has anyone seen this coin in real life? If so, opinions? I really like what I see in the video. Usually I buy silver as close to spot as possible but this switched on my collector gene. As a swede I love norse mythology. My brother bought some coins from the gods of Olympus series. They are really nice. If this coin has the same strike quality I will go for it.

The coin won't ship till end of September.

As you can see from the video, this coin is far superior to the Gods of Olympus (Goo) coins in every conceivable way; as just a few examples - larger size (more ounces), much higher relief, much, much, much better design, each coin individually numbered on the coin itself.

The 2016 Odin Max Relief coin puts to shame what I see as significantly inferior coins...the Goos....no competition whatsoever as I see it.

And just in case someone thinks that I don't like Perth Mint coins simply because the Goo's are terribly inferior coins, you should know that I have more Perth Mint coins than coins from any other mint and I really like the Perth Mint coins I own. I am a fan of the Perth Mint....just very disappointed in the poor quality of the Goo series.

Agreed BUT it is considering a great improvement for western mints. However, it is crazy that so many god series are coming out after the success of Perth Mints gods.

You means Singapore or Canada?

No many collectors in Singapore BUT they love to brag. This personal opinion and Singapore coin dealers comments who also have coin company in other countries. In fact sometimes my overseas sell is much faster than them.

Some customers even told me that the coin delear refers their customers to me for the latest MCC which they are slow in getting the stock LOL. Some customers just want it fast

The first few PM Gods are not comparable to this at all as personal view. However, the recent one look good which I am tempted to buy for flipping only. However, I still not touch it because of missing the chance after decision. Price has go too high.

I view this series is good buy due to more oz and higher relief

There's a saying which may apply and it goes, "When the iron is hot, strike it"

Oh, I meant Singapore (I believe Nkx still has 18 coins remaining from the pre-order). Canada wise, I haven't seen any dealers picking up on this coin yet, but I'm not as familiar with the dealers here (in Canada).
