Krugerrand now officially available in silver and platinum

Okay, so what's the latest news on this coin? I really wanna purchase it but there seems so much confusion over this. Talk about a marketing nightmare for a "historic first time in silver".

Apmex and Govmint are saying the mintage is 15,000 for the proof. Apmex is sold out, GovMint has them at $59.95 USD.
MCM has them listed as "Gem Premium Uncirculated," so is that their way of calling a coin "Proof?" Anyway, they list the coin at a mintage of 1,000,000 and the same price as GovMint.

Sooooooooooooooooooo, what?! Haha.

I really wanna get it, cause I am a sucker for this 50th anniversary and that it's the first time it's in silver, gimmick, but what's with the pricing and mintage?

$59.00 for a million mintage? Yeah, those for certain will come down to normal prices in time, IMHO. That's highway robbery.

There are 2 versions of the silver coin. One is the PU (Premium Uncirculated) version with 1,000,000 mintage and the second one is the Proof version with 15,000.
I want one PU too, but don't want to pay that premium. I will wait that the price goes down. But unfortunately I could not say no to the silver proof version and paid about 3x issue price. :/

Oh hahaha. I knew I was missing something so obvious. I just saw the letter "P" and didn't even realize one was Premium and one is Proof.

What is Premium Uncirculated?! What happened to BU? Lol

Does anybody know what the Proof was going for? It seems Apmex and BullionExchange had them but they are sold out. Just curious.

And yeah, with a million mintage, at $59.95 USD it is ridiculous! I guess they're hoping the "historic first time in silver" will bring in the people but that price will leave them bringing the price way down. I will definitely wait!

Remember that APMEX puts "out of stuck" also when an item has not yet arrived. Has anyone actually bough a proof from them?
They use "coming soon" for items they've never sold, not out of stock, that is my experience anyway and I am constantly browsing their site. In this case they most certainly did sell the proof silver Krugerrands, they started at $169.99 and kept jacking the price up as they trickled more out. They sold out at $310 each :/

Thanks very much. You are right. The language is different. I will not pay these prices for the proofs, which were $60 from the mint. If someday they go down to say $100, I would consider getting one. Otherwise, I can do without it. Those who paid $170 and re-sold at $300 did well, but I do not see these holding to anywhere near current levels over time. I understand the profit maximization idea, but it has gotten so out of hand, that I have greatly reduced my purchases, and even find myself less interested in coins because all these out of control prices just turn me off.

The price in the begin was 37.50 euro the batch they send back ! i thought to much but then i got doubts and wanted to buy and then the price was 45 euro i bought 5 pieces
now they cost 69,90 euro what the f...k is that i wont buy i cant immagine they sell a million for these prices .

Here ModernCoinMart & GovMint keep sending out SPAM email blasts as if that is going to prompt people to overpay. It's only a matter of time before they face reality but i the meantime I continue to be amused by their attempts to gouge.

Why are these coins so expensive in the first place? 1 million mintage and they're selling for an arm and a leg on ebay? LOL. You can have it.

Distribution in the US was extreamly controled, SA Mint had many production and timing issues, the mint has never produced such a large volume product before. These factors combined to make this a high priced product.

Bullion Money in Sydney are now taking 2018 pre orders for $25.80 ($5 above spot) if you buy 20+ They look like a great coin, for a good price.

The 2018 coin would be around A$23.50 in comparison, so it is a fair bit cheaper. Just have no idea how many they are going to produce.

Since it's a low premium coin, i would imagine they will produce a lot.

Btw the link you provided was for a Proof Like coin. The new 2018 coins are BU. the 2017 was a mix of matted and mirror like surface, whereas the new 2018 coin looks all matt like the ASE. So the 2017 was a nicer looking coin aimed more at collectors, whereas the 2018 is more for stacking.
