kooks vs koalas vs lunars

1oz kooks vs 1oz koalas vs 1oz lunars

Hmm which to collect for long term, what are peoples opinions? :-)

Lunar 100%. The earlier lunar year coins have appreciated far more than the others, especially considering that the selling price is the same when they are first released.


Also, it appeals to a bigger (Chinese) market than the others.

Those are my two cents

Lunar then kook then koala.
I'm sure there are some koalas lovers out there who will say that they are good investment but I haven't looked at them for ages. There was an earlier discussion about this from a few years ago. Not sure if it would still be around.
 
And just stop at series 1 lunars or continue on collecting as the years go on, series 2, etc ?

With the 1oz kooks I was thinking of just collecting up to the 2015 (25th anniversary) or would it be worthwhile as like the lunars to continue collecting as the years go on, etc ?

Koalas all the way unless you want to become a "lunatic"! Koala premium steady steady catch he monkey.

If you dont continue past 2015 with the kooks its no problem until you decide to pay extra secondary premium for catch up.

People will say "Lunars" because they want to sell them to you at inflated secondary premium many of which paid inflated secondary premium.

Once the Chinese loose interest in PM Lunars as they loose wealth and then realize they have gone against their own Feng shui in search of more luck, the Japanese will start to buy all the Koalas their favourite fluffy bear :) You see PM has conned the Chinese into reverse feng shui with the Lunars lol Feng shui is defiantly not money from the east going west lol Feng shui for Chinese is to prevent this happening! :)

Wow.... I thought Lunar is key component of Chinese culture tracing back at least 5000 years? Would they loose interest in PM's Lunar? Yes, if more milk-spotting issue happened. But this will make EVERYONE loose interest in PM's products n not only Lunar. My 2 cents.
 
Current retail prices and mintages for the 2016 Koalas, Kooks, and Monkeys are:

Koala $28 300,000
Kooks $30 500,000
Monks $34 300,000

I reckon the return on investment would be best with the Koala as the Monkey only gives you 80% of the ASW of the Koala. Therefore if say silver doubles, you are taking a punt that not only has the ASW doubled, but the premium doubles too. The Koala has a $7 premium whilst the Monk has a $13 premium.

This analysis would indicate that low premium bars and coins ar the better way to go.

Reverse Feng Shui ! the Western World has been doing it to the Chinese until they go "DOH" lol westerners even stole their magical tea trees from under the emperors nose and by englishmen disguised as Chinese! "DOH" double "DOH" lol

Broke Japanese people are chasing their luck tail with Chinese PM Lunars and will soon revert to "Cuddly Koala"! Lucky lunar coins from the lucky country means more profit so luck to the lucky country :)

Limited Koala mintage is a new thing, are they trying to excite some interest in them? Recent 1oz mintages aren't much in excess of 300,000 anyway (except 2011 :lol:)

Monkeys are sold out because flippers buy up big to flip on to other flippers who also want to flip lunars in the hope of making a nice profit.

Non flipping lunar collectors buy to collect but others buy because they see flippers making secondary premium! but due to the amount of flippers/speculators it leaves many thousands each year being flipped between flippers or hoarded in the guise of hard to get thus allowing both a high mint premium and high secondary premium.

Some may well be left holding the baby.

Koala buyers on the other hand are more secretive and selective causing low over all silver coin sales and by the time some realize the true future potential of Koalas it will be too late :)

This is my belief and I may well be wrong but at least I have resisted the lunar lunacy and have no need to purchase or ever will a coin with so many varieties bangs and whistles all portrayed as low coin numbers with ever increasing premium guarantees.
