I wanted to dip my hand in the kilo market so I bought a couple bars a few weeks ago on sale. Sadly, since silver went down, I have lost $$ on the transaction. However, today I picked them up. They are smaller than I'd thought they'd be. I have 10oz bars and three 10oz bars look like more silver than this kilo bar. I know that is not a good barometer to use but I'm just saying.

I think its cool but the serial numbers that I received on the bars are 999 and 1000.

JM Bullion is where I bought them from and they did pass the ping test. Cool story, right? Thread worthy, of course, :)

These are great bars with awesome serial numbers. They don't have to look shiny like highly polished silver for them to be attractive to collectors. If you got them for close to a generic kilo bar then I think you got a bargain even if the price has dropped a bit since then.

Hold onto them!
 
Apmex has them for cheap and I don't think they are the collector versions. They seem recently made as the collector versions have a different serial number.

Recent purchased 1 oz proof coins, I said very lucky to find coa 999, 2 x within three weeks.

The Holy Grail.... , dont ask for the picture as you will sure loose. Only will take serious high stake bet...
Other members here have seen them and can confirm authenticity.
 
Never made a sale of silver, on this site or any other. Would these bars because of their numbers be preferred from others? And, if so, where to post such an advertisement?

With silver dropping, I might, am not looking to, but might buy a couple more.

The perth mint silver bars are exactly the same, says 999 but no mention of ag or fine silver. I found it strange myself... but I guess it's a given that perth mint doesn't make 1kg platinum bars
 
We all know the price of silver has fallen. About $60 a bar from when I bought mine. So tempted to buy a couple more but I should put money elsewhere. The bars are so nice.
 
I would seriously advise you to consider holding off your purchases of low premium bullion as the price has yet to settle.
 
Anything uniquely serialised has a collectable value beyond its bullion value.

Say 0001.

or 999, 1000.

Its cool points basically.

And looking at the price drop as of yesterday, where gold has closed below 1200, at its lowest point in a long time, the psychology now shifts.

As the fed moves closer to a rate hike, gold becomes less attractive to investors. If you didn't know, silver price nearly always follows gold price. (Unless someone tries to corner the market...)

So a bit of patience and hoarding of cash, will allow you to buy in once the dust has settled on this recent drop.

Next week will be interesting in the markets. The lead up to Xmas holidays is approaching, and these are key times for US retail spending numbers and also how the markets behave.

January often has a seasonal low that can be taken advantage of, and in the phsyical market you often see people liquidating a bar or two at spot or close to it, to get some cash for their xmas spending.

It's a short term view though, and you need to consider what the next 12 - 24 months will bring as well.

I agree and I am going to wait. It is tempting though.

Since my kilo purchase I only bought 20oz because my brother wanted to buy some silver as well so I bought some with him. Those kilos are hard to pass up now since I have the itch for them.
