I know there's not many people that favor Sterling Silver.

But I'm sure no-one would bother having such a unique piece in there growing collections either.

I've got a similar box but of 100 cars by John Pinches Limited. From a 1875 Marcus to a 1975 Volkswagon and I'm pretty sure they're all 99.9 silver...must try remember what I've done with them now.... :|

Thanks, Managed to find some Information about them.

I original thought they were Franklin Mint, But they are in fact A cased set of 36 sterling silver commemorative motoring ingots, by John Pinches Ltd,

released in the mid-1970s by the Beaulieu National Motor Museum.

Indeed!

Quite a 'generous' premium over spot there...

In 1971 I was drivin' trucks for about $100/wk (& thought I was doin' quite well).............

Vintage & Classic Car Collection
The Lord Montagu Collection of Great Car Ingots
A collection of ingot shaped silver medallions, issued by John Pinches in 1972, in conjunction with the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu.
Each bar is 52 x 29 millimetres, weighs about 67 grams of sterling silver, and contains about 2 ounces of pure silver.

36 Vintage Cars
Each of the 36 medallions has a finely sculpted image of a different vintage or classic car from the collection of Lord Montagu, and on the reverse side is an inscription giving the main technical specifications of the model.
