On a more serious note though, I don't think I can realistically pull my head in with good conscience and let the sheep off the hook here. They are friggen stupid and worse, they dictate the shape of this nation through their stupidity and by extension, the quality of my life.

Whether we're talking about some moron on the road who nearly causes an accident, the twit who borrows 800k for their 'first home' or the collection of thickheads who vote in the polly that gives them the biggest lamb chop, sure enough the actions of the uneducated contribute to the status quo and I don't know if any of you have been taking notice, but the status quo of this country has been steadily going to utter crap for some time now.

Arrogance is worse than stupidity.

The "sheep" get what they want, go happily through life and get bailed out in the end.
You spend your life bitterly whining and complaining how the "twits" are to blame for your quality of life.

Who is the stupid one ?

Starting to feel that way trew! I've been telling people not to do subdivisions, not to take out big loans, etc for years. They've all been doing it and all keep making decent profits.

Here I am living at home, saving, buying PM's and being largely frugal. Who is the smart one?

Sometimes you just have to be a motivated idiot rather than an educated derelict to get somewhere in life ! :)

Or you can just be purty .

It's all engineered and exploits people's inherent laziness and aspiration to ignorance promoted in the media.

Its hard seeing such ignorant, demonizing people post their comments on news articles ( like this one http://www.marketwatch.com/story/silver-how-low-can-we-go-2012-08-02 see AmericanPatriot), but it does sometimes make me question...what if they are right... what if silver and gold collapse...

AP is clearly a troll.

So there is this argument that gold and silver will collapse, because they clearly haven't performed 'as predicted'.

How is that even logical? That's like saying that just because the USD hasn't hyperinflated (yet) as predicted, that it is a really sound and valuable currency.

The reality is that most predictions have their timing wrong, due to any number of factors. Are the fundamentals behind the predictions still true? If they are, then what has changed other than the timing?

Just sounds like weak hands to me.

Actually, you have a fair point there. Whilst arrogance doesn't bother me at all (perception of the individual who speaks with confidence on a topic that might undermine your own ideals will naturally be viewed as such) I have noted time and again that there's an element of bliss which supports the ideal of remaining ignorant.

Whether you call it being willfully ignorant or outright stupid, there's a decent arguement which supports the theory that in the face of such large scale, mindless oppression, you can be forgiven for taking the collective mindset's attitude and simply play within the game and enjoy the trappings of life.

People can live comparitively successful and fulfilling lives just playing the rigged game, capitulating with the establishment and mocking the thinkers and critics. I really do understand that mindset and often wonder that if I could just be a little more stupid, ignorant and compromising on my morals, I could also roll the dice in the casino and lord over my success as champion of the masses.

Trouble is, I took the red pill and I simply can't lie to myself in good conscience.

My personal mindset is based in objective reality and to accept the framework of utter bullshit being put forward as an ideal would be a direct contradiction of everything I am. I couldn't live my life that way and sleep well at night.

I continue to try and wake people up, but the longer I go about this business, the more I realise that it's a wasted effort to even bother.

Rome is burning and instead of calling for all arms to put out the fire, the collective want me to pass them the marshmallows... what can any reasoning mind do in the face of that?

This is why regardless of the 'anon' movement and occupy wallstreet idealists / tea party movement I think humanity has already lost. There's simply no desire or impetus for them to wake up and by time they're forced to, it will already be too late.

@auspm - How many do you have to wake up for it to be worth it?

Is it a lack of expected results that is tiring you, or the strength of those who oppose you?

It doesn't really matter at the end of the day.

We live in a world where 'shoot the messenger' is the ongoing paradigm. The MSM and vested interest groups have the people in such a tight grip, I honestly am doubtful they can be saved anyway and as such, are likely to just drag down the rest of us with them.

Well I for one appreciate such efforts, even if it just means a different point of view. It's hard to make sense of the world sometimes, and any assistance is good.

No that is being assertive.

Arrogance is needing to put other people down.

Point is, they'll find fault in the statement(s), now matter how politely you put it and I for one, have no patience or desire to appease their sentiments any more.

But through years of discussing this crap publically, the only thing I've come to realise is that those open to the truth come because they actually want to know the truth.

The rest will simply resent you for even trying.

I think it was Gerald Celente who said it best (based on an older hindu saying) : When the student is ready the teacher will appear

A very applicable statement in this environment I think, because it's very clear to me that the people are not yet ready to learn.

I remember talking to a few friends about how the "Real world works", our current financial system, our current political situation, the wars etc. The stuff we talk about here on SS which are backed by fact.

There was about 5 of us, most agreed with me, since what I was saying was backed by fact and they could see it all unfolding before them, but theres always the one who nit picks and denies every fact you say.

Funny thing is, when I asked the 'critic' what do you think about 9/11? His reply was I dont know I havn't done enough research on it. But on every topic after than he magically had all the facts and all the answers on everything. To think he knows about everything about anything, except one of the worlds biggest events 9/11

Those are some worrying responses Aus...

One thing I've gleaned out of a good few years stacking now is that people who haven't woken up yet to the economic nuclear bomb that is fiat currency yet almost immediately reject someone with a different view.

Sure, I've had people consider me quite left-of-field and one or two who've told me I'm an idiot for taking my hard earned out of the bank and stacking it - but a few acknowledge that 'well if the banks go bust again, at least you won't lose your money'.

What upsets me the most is people who consider bank interest rates as the only way of getting a return on their 'slavings'. Do they not realise that in order to get the real rate, they need to subtract tax AND inflation.

I guess not.

^ I think a large majority of people either don't know about inflation at all, or know 'of it' but don't really know how it works.

Price rises seem like a normal thing to them, but they probably think too short-term to realise that there's history of these price rises, and there are underlying reasons behind the price rises that are not explained by the basic supply/demand economics of goods and services, but rather the expanding of the money supply through increased debt or money printing.

And the fact that inflation outside of basic supply/demand economics is not 'normal' and does not need to exist at all.

As you were saying RhythmDoctor, inflation is a tax, and combined with income tax means that term deposits or savings accounts in the bank will generate a minimal return - possibly even zero or negative.

That's the difference between understanding 'real' gains and 'nominal' gains. Taxation is always on nominal gains, which makes it even worse.

I think stackers need to be mindful of the negativity that could arise against them if/when the game is over and the losers are very, very angry.

Excellent point Julie, And it won't just be negativity.....It will be anger, frustration, feelings of utter loss and resentment towards the better off people, and unfortunately there will be cases of violence and robbery if we 'the informed' are not carefull.... I'm not far of using a free vault service....Or buying an inpeneterable safe..... We are in a very dangerous world atmo.

It's already starting in USA where the predators are moving from their traditional (read 'ghetto') areas into the more affluent areas.
Old Town Chicago is what might be referred to as the 'posh' part of Chicago, very affluent and historic with residents firmly in the middle to upper class.
One more effect of the decline of Chicago and its role as a metaphor for the USA.

People in Chicago's Old Town are concerned about the neighborhood's growing number of assaults and break-ins, and a community meeting is being held at the Old Triangle Association Monday night to discuss crime problems.

Colleen Kamin has lived in the city for more than 40 years. She lives in the 1400 block of Sedgwick in Old Town and said she is concerned about the increase of crime in her area. She said she is going to buy a gun and take lessons on how to use it safely.

Kamin intends to keep the gun in her home.

"I know in Chicago we have to jump through more hoops to get a gun," she said. "I don't really care about that issue, I'll jump through all the hoops necessary to use it safely and keep myself safe."

"When I do come outside, I go to the store and I go right back in the house," said fellow Old Town resident Jeanette Lymas. "I just don't feel safe."

"A friend of mine in my building, a girl, was just robbed riding her bike down to the beach at 3 o'clock in the afternoon," said Old Town resident Charlie Schramer. "Now, she's going to buy a firearm and take training classes to use it."

Organizers are expecting a full house at the Old Town Association with residents hearing about a recent mugging that took place. They're going to meet the victim, hear her side of the story and what precautions they should be taking to be safe on the streets.

Police confirmed that on July 22 on the 300 block of West Monomoy Street at 7:30 a.m. an offender approached a female jogger from behind and attempted force her into a nearby alley with a knife.

The victim screamed and offender ran off.

Police captured the offender, who was charged with aggravated battery and aggravated unlawful restraint.

There have been a rash of break-ins in the area that has police telling people to keep their doors locked, windows closed and be cautious of where you are.

No i think a lot of people consider bank interest rates as a GUARANTEED return & i might say that theres very few GUARANTEED returns available & it somewhat offsets inflation ....better than nothing or gambling. So dont be upset about them they arent wishing about any returns they will recieve them . :)
