Ive got gold jewelry I need melted down

Im not sure where this belongs but I have a small amount of jewelry I need melted down. Im looking for a reputable smelter in NYC to do the melt for me. Any suggestions of where to start besides google.
 
Why do you need it melted down ???

just sell it as it is - you won't get any extra for it if it is melted

I don't want to sell it, I'd like to have it in the form of a ingot, bar or button.

so sell the jewellery and buy an ingot or button
 
Just make sure you sell to a decent dealer that will give you spot or close to spot

Should be able to buy an ingot/button from the sale dealer too
 
I was going to start my own thread, but thought techstackers might be interested as well?

Where do people go to have mixed pm refined and how much is fair price?

Nothing big just 50 or so grams of mixed jewellery, Would it be cheaper to sell to jewellery / bullion dealer

I'm a bit of diy person but refining such small quantities will likely cost me more money than its worth.
