Does it have a semi rainbow effect when you spin the coin ? It could be a heat transfer in the die. Otherwise on these small shots it is hard to tell ?
well as you can tell by the back the colors go from purple to light blue and green ish colors ...its more pronounced in some angles as opposed to others so yes. ill try one with my 8x lupe but its hard to get it just right
The copper penny looks like it's been annealled by heat, and the silver coin shows toning (sulphidisation).
Both produce an (oxide or equivalent) layer on the original metal that is so thin it's transparent and disrupts the reflected light.
Different oxide layers produce differnt refraction and therefore colours until the thickness gets too great to allow light to be reflected (i.e. black toning).
Most metals are subject to this phenomenon.
