Is this coin worth USD$120.00?

I purchased this coin from Ebay through auction. After receiving it i was rather disappointed with the condition. It was described as Uncirulated.
It came with the box and coa. I have included pictures. The seller has offered to give me my money back but after I pay for return shipping, I would only have $120.00 Should I just keep the coin? Is it even worth $120.00?
The coa # is 5477

Thanks for any advise.

Are you disappointed because of the condition of the box, or is there problems with the coins itself? The coin looks in good nick to me, assuming those scratches/marks are on the capsule

Looking at Pricepedia that's either a 1994 proof or BU Unicorn (1oz Ag)?

BU in OMP is listed as $200
PF in OMP as $750, with a MS66 going for $311

(edit: I better point out that that's the first Unicorn I've seen, just so you know the level of my expertise ... cool looking coin though:) )

The coin looks ok as far as I can see no nicks. I don't even know if it is a proof or Bu version. It did come with a COA. I guess it is worth the risk of just keeping it considering the price I paid.
I am considering sending it in for NCS conservation and grading. It is a 1oz Ag.

Might be a bargain then... I'm sure someone who knows a lot more than me will come along shortly and tell you which it is, who made it and what they had for breakfast that day. :)

It's a BU unicorn. Population 45000
If it was a proof it would have a P in a circle behind the tail.
I only have a 97 and it cost about $100 from memory so 120 might be a little high but it's a nice coin so I would keep it.

I like the unicorns. I have a few of them going to ncs and ngc and one is in capsule only (bu) same of yours. Have a little toning. Will saw what grade they get.
I think the unicorns are undervalued now. Its time to buy. Im only missing the 1995 proof in pf69 if my pf 1994 grade well. I think the 100.000 mintage for the bu not is the remain population.
The 1994 is rarer than 1997 (i saw a lot for less than 90/70 uss) a few months ago.
Have you a coa with the box? Or only the two boxes?
Mines go with coas

The april pricepedia prices for 1994 bu (yours):
Usa 200 (68) / 300 (69) old prices
China 140 omp old price
109 germany in capsule last auction

My personal opinion is it is a solid coin for 120, I am of the opinion with Thor that the whole unicorn series is going cheap right now ,you are buying a coin ,not a box, even though it is nice to have all those icings on the cake...............it appears from your photo,s that the milky spots at 4 oclock are on the capsule, if so ,I like the coin

Definetely an UNC coin.
However not MS 70 or MS 69.

Probably between 65 - 68.

The case seems a lil rough - but nothing major.

It's not double sealed so may have been graded (poorly) and ripped from the slab back into capsule & box.

RAW coins usually go for 50-80% of OMP prices. $120 would be slightly expensive for that coin but I've made worse purchases than that...

Yea man I hate to be a buzzkill but I have to agree with thucydides79 ... the coin probably wont grade higher than 68 and the box looks like it got in a fight with a lawnmower but overall it may be a decent keeper. Nice conversation piece !

Yea to add to what fishy said ... I made alot of worse buys
