Does anyone have any info on this 1987 coin.
Bought it on eBay for not much money.
I checked but it is not in Peter Anthony's book.

Apparently Panda coins without the Temple of Heaven on the reverse are not really considered Panda coins.

I think what you have there is a medallion (not really a Panda coin, even though it has a Panda featured).

Hi, this one is Fake, I watched this last week went to around 67, now you need refund.

reason: this coin's reverse side---Chinese Map which not include Taiwan "province" obviously illegal from Mainland China's perspective, furthermore, never heared that Taiwan have Panda silver coins mint history. Then it's Fake.

If it were a Perth Mint fake you'd just go to the Federal Police and file charges ;)

The writing on the coin is in traditional Chinese (remember that in China, they use simplified Chinese). So I doubt the coin was issued by China.

You might not get a Panda, but the coin itself might be a perfectly fine 1oz silver coin.

The Chinese use both traditional and simplified characters.

If you comprehend all the histories behind traditional and simplified characters (e.g. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Debate_on_traditional_and_simplified_Chinese_characters), I have no problem with your statement.

It's true that in some old literature, the mainland Chinese use the traditional characters. However, for daily purposes, almost all mainland Chinese exclusively use simplified characters. It is mandated by the mainland Chinese government.

Thanks for the replies stackers.

I am going to keep it. Its not everyone has a genuine fake Panda.

Besides, it will be a constant reminder to always check first, buy later.

I see in ebay, delcampe and other site, exist many variation of this coins, for in the first picture (post of Southerner), the year (1987) is in the face of the map, but i see the coin of 1993 and the ir is in the face of the panda.
