I won an auction on ebay for a stunning minting bar...

under the eagle it has lines that read.

sunshine

minting

inc.

.999 fine

silver

one troy

ounce

then a blank rectangular box

each one I find on apmex and other sites do not have the lines for sunshine minting inc

Can't help without a picture sorry. But there are fake 1oz Sunshine bars - have you tried weighing it? Should be 31.1g.

Was looking through eBay the other day and the amount of fakes on there is out of control. Post a picture up or the link to the auction then we can have a look for you!

From link above:

"Authenticate your Sunshine bullion purchase!
This Decoder Lens is the complementary piece to the unique security feature known as MINTMARK SI now on Sunshine Minting products. In a world of financial uncertainty, the last thing you want to worry about is the authenticity of your Precious Metals investments.

That's why Sunshine Minting has incorportated a counterfeit protection security feature, called MINT MARK SI, on the reverse of its Gold and Silver bullion products. The MINT MARK SI security feature is not visible with the naked eye and can be validated only with this special Sunshine Mint Decoder Lens.

When the Decoder Lens is placed over the MINT MARK SI security feature, a validation image will appear to authenticate your investment. Take your investment authentication into your own hands with Sunshine Minting MINT MARK SI bullion products and this accompanying Decoder Lens"

thanks for the replies.. the seller is now stating it is actually thick clad right when I was leaning towards it being real

I've said it before and I guess I'll keep saying it.
Don't buy bullion from ebay.
Just my opinion mind, but really? :|

Since the listing doesn't say that, you really should get a refund on it. It also doesn't say that it is silver; they probably think they're being clever with their wording. The listing is clearly misleading, though.

They have many more of the same item for sale, some with a decent number of bids.

Yep, I hope it was a Paypal transaction. There are excellent grounds for a dispute.
I hate these fake bars and the people flogging them, whether or not the seller discloses these are fakes.
These things are nothing but outright fraud. If they were copies of Government issued items it would clearly be counterfeiting and would be a criminal matter.

definitely used paypal..im giving the seller by the end.of today to refund..which she said she would so we shall see

The link above is to a brass fake
The dead giveaway is the hard plastic case-The majority of these 1 oz bar fakes are in hard plastic cases.
I think to mask the actual weight and size. there are pan am, silvertowne, NWTM and a bunch of others.
You can order them from china for about $2 ea.
You can buy a real bar from silvertowne direct for about the same as you paid for that fake.
Good luck on your purchases in the future.
