International postage for Silver

Would you post silver to the UK from Australia?

If so, what sort of postage? Or would you use a courier? Are there any specialist companies that do this?
 
Look into Australia Post "Pack and Track" service.

Make sure both parties are aware of "on costs" such as VAT and any other imposts.

In addition to that, insure everything and take photos of the package after weight etc has been paid and stamped.

Having said all that, both parties should ask if it's really worth it.
 
Note that silver imports into the UK now attract a high rate of VAT (~20%?).

There are specialist bullion couriers like Brinks if you want good security.
 
The only way to learn is to think either aloud or within yourself.

Plenty of members have done the same exercise.

Plenty of members here to offer their thoughts.

Unless it's a really special or unique deal it's often marginal.
 
If you live in the UK, you should be able to find plenty of UK/EU merchants who sell Austrian PM products (this is what you wish, from what I understand). I guess it's not worth buying from too far away due to financial and security-related risks.

My problem is that I was planning on staying in Oz for life. Now I have to return to the UK. I have to get my stack there somehow! :(
 
The only company I will use for international courier is Interparcel.com.au ( saying that I use them within oz as well )

They use all the big courier companies at a lower price

Pick up from wherever you book it from and fully tracked

What's not to like .......you will pick up a VAT bill on arrival to the uk though ..... With silver

I did ask this on another thread but is there a limit to what you can take back into the country with gold before you have to pay any import taxes

I haven't found anything outlining any limits. As long as it conforms to their description of investment etc.

Still looking for loopholes on the silver. Can I class it as a personal possession? If so I can carry it in tax free as part of my "Repatriating my household and my personal possessions"!

Problem then becomes hand baggage weight limits :/

Nothing is ever easy is it! lol
 
I wouldn't worry about hand luggage weights if you convert your stack to gold ..... Take it through in your pockets ...... Problem solved

I would worry more about import taxes as even if taking through cash I am sure you have to declare over a certain amount ( not sure what that is )

I am looking to go back for a visit soon and wouldn't mind knowing what these restrictions are as I could take some back with me ...... As long as I don't get slugged

After 3 telephone conversations with HM Customs and Excise I have been unable to find out anything of any use. Go figure! If they can't advise me, is there any hope?
