new to the markets but how does that even occur. Silver dropped 60c + in less then a second how is that even possible ?

The Silver Stackers charts page uses both goldprice.org and kitco - both showed flash dips. The forex charts also showed a massive flash spike.

Yep, very strange, seems to happen quite a lot of late. One thought is that it smashes through peoples buy/ sell limits triggering a sale so the 'squid' and the likes can squeeze the last drop of silver from the weak hands. Stack it high while its still under $50.00, physical metal is not affected by these parasites.
