Interesting little story for you... (pikey victory)

Sorry guys, I couldn't resist.

I went yesterday afternoon to a dealer to swap out some bars for gold while prices were looking alright (I have a tendency to go gold heavy when I'm expanding my core).

I decided to do a small deal later that afternoon and took in 1x 100g pamp bar plus my 6oz Market Harmony bar. A total of 9.2oz roughly.

I was quoted a value for gold swap of $618.

(Yes, I couldn't believe it either.)

Being an honest pikey as I am (an oxymoron I know) I repeatedly told the fella that it was a 100g bar, and not a 10oz. 'I know how big the bar is RD, I'm not that blind' was his reply.

I continued to press him about it, but he wouldn't listen.

Anyhow, deal done - I threw him a tenner and ended up leaving with a 1/4oz and a 1/10 coin.

Possibly the strangest deal I have ever done, but I'm not complaining :D

When you did the swap was any premimums?

Like he paid less than spot & sold to you over spot?

Or a straight out swap $ value to $ value?

Must have had someone ask for the stuff you were offering and he probably got the gold cheap so a win for both of you (which is weird as the dealers I know will screw the hell out of you even if he is getting a good deal). I would be interested to also know which dealer is it (should support good dealers so they dont go out of business)

...and in three days time you realise "where's my 100 gram GOLD pamp gone!"

Just read somewhere, 'If you don't know who the sucker is (in the contract written by their lawyer), its you."

RD,

Maybe your transaction was related to that news story of a dealer finding a rare Pamp 100g silver bar. :) Sorry, I couldn't resist.

I think that may have been the case jo.

Like I say, I've dealt with said person quite a number of times before, and he's usually straight as a die.

It just left me reeling for the rest of the day.... :D

Curious about which dealer this is.

How many bullion dealers in Brisbane can you walk into and sell stuff, and walk out with cash?

I can only think of one...
I've never bought/sold at a dealer so would not have a clue.

Nope, after you said "straight as a die", I knew it wasn't a dealer I'd been to in Brisbane. Not a coin one anyway.
