Interesting how perception has changed on the Silver 1966 50c Coin

I fail to understand how a 50c which is 80% silver commands a premium of other junk silver like sterling that is 92.5%.

a 66 round 50 is :

well recognised,
basically a 1/3 ounce,
usually less worn down ie. are in good condition

I think that some 10ozs bars have a better selling price than others,,, I would want at least 2 more for a PM OR SS bar than an ABC one.

I was thinking of flogging a few of mine off - but eBay is just so hit and miss.

A couple of months ago they were selling below spot. The price then followed the silver price up and has not really dropped back as yet. If we get a sustained lower silver spot price then they may drop back. Who knows. Some of the prices the auctions reach is just crazy. The same goes for standard 1oz bullion kooks. The are still reaching the mid forties $, higher than the Perth Minth and you pay postage on top of that.

Hey. With Last nights up surge prices for the 66 50 are going nuts...

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1966-50c...300575038761?pt=AU_Coins2&hash=item45fbab1d29 $18.50

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300575038885&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT $28.51

$28.51 for one shiny 66 50c'er! WOW - and the madness is it looks like a legit auction..

Now im thinking i culled my stacked prematurely.. are these the creeeper/sleepers.. will these continue to have a premium over spot?

1for1

I've got about 70 of these at home and paid $14.50 each when spot was around the $42/$43 mark.

So well, I should make a profit lol

Isn't it just better to buy bullion at the prices they have reached now? I don't understand why people are going nuts for them especially now that Asians are selling "them" on ebay...

Just seen a lot of 10 go for $117.50

Madness.
Not sure I understand RM - I haven't seen many this cheap so it sounds like good buying to me or am I missing something?

1/3 Oz per coin @ $11.75 per coin is $35.25 Spot.

Sounds like a good buy.

With the current spot price at $11.88 for a 66 fifty cent, Ainslie is currently buying them for $1003kg (75 to kg) wotks out at app. $13.33 and is selling for $1105 kg ($14.60 each).

$117.50 is a bargain in my opinion and so is anything that you can make an instant gain if you so desire.

It seems like that the 66 has attracted a premium far in excess of the previous premium of just a year or so ago.

I havn't stacked the 66 fifties for over a year now..I have moved on to $10 state coins which I can still get for under spot, are sterling silver, and have a value of $10 in fiat. I like the bird series and all of them are U/C.

But getting back to the 66 fifties, if I was just starting to stack silver, I think for a lot of small stacker, they are ideal if you only have limited funds. I would, as a new stacker, pay in the range of $13.50/14.

Bloke here offering $8 each for them over the last few months, must be making some money to continue the adds.

I've thought about doing this.

Seen a couple of ads on Gumtree for them also.
