In the Australian Open Tennis (which I don't watch) and other tennis tournaments the woman play only 60% as long as the man (3 sets) and they get the !@#$%^& same amount of $$$$$$$$$$$$$ what a joke :rolleyes: and they are complaining.

I can tell you one thing about this rubbish is that more man are reaching boiling point,and sadly they will have something to complain about them :confused:

Income inequality makes me think of life quality inequality, which is amplified by "modern style" jobs and the dumb modern mentality.

Besides income, it matters how we live and home much we have to spend and it also counts on what we spend our money.

Income might be high, but it it's wasted, then you can still end up in a 3rd world country, especially after a severe economic crisis.

Some points:

- today's youth doesn't own (and many don't even want to own) property: Airbnb, Uber, couchsurfing all promote the "sharing economy".
- it's trendy and considered "fashionable" not to own: "why buy when you can rent"? (I've had a few arguments with some former colleagues, but they really didn't get it and kept pumping the idea of renting instead of owning homes, cars... but what they're really doing is they live to work like workslaves and it's an endless game for them, they can never stop!)
- new generations work in office buildings selling their lives to the employers (they're "human resources" on modern gulags), but barely make enough to pay their rent, meals and transportation... yet, due to modern technology and entertainment, they have the illusion of "living well": StarBucks, iPhone, smart watches, Uber, Airbnb, but what they're really doing is overpaying for countless services and products they don't really need

...what I'm saying it that if someone pushed a "pause" button on their "career", they'd probably realize that they don't own anything and are unable to control their own lives.

Europe, the US (especially the US) are "pioneers" in all of this.
 
Home ownership has never been as common as its been for the last 60 years with FHA loans and the govt subsidies. The same reason for the ridiculous prices and massive bubbles.
 
In Europe, most people can't afford to buy a home, unless they buy on credit. In Eastern Europe, more people own their own home than in Western Europe.

It has become harder to buy a home in Eastern Europe, since the fall of communism. It's odd how in communism, new cars and new apartments were easier to obtain.

Back then, taking account of "local realities", people were able to own more, much easier with less work. There was zero credit.

Communism was not ideal, obviously, but people had more financial security. It's hard to describe to someone who doesn't know the situation well.

The transition from communism/socialism to "market economy" was dreadful (and still is) for those countries. People often joke about "back then we had money and we had a house, but there weren't so many fancy products to buy; today, there's a lot to buy, but we don't have money".

The west lives on credit.

The credit mentality still scares away Eastern Europeans, but the youth are catching up (too bad).

It's true: if you don't own it, it's not yours. It's best buying anything rather than renting or obtaining credits for it.

If you own it, you don't have to work like a slave to be able to stay in it. You lose your job and you end up on the streets. Why are there so many homeless in America?

During communist times there were almost zero homeless people in former communist countries.

All really good points. People had a more even level of lifestyle.

Communism had many failings. Individuals wielded power in painful ways in similar ways that public servants do sometimes.

But... people had more community, families shared more, helped each other more. Not perfect but less about my fancy car and more about sharing a meal together. Still is today in many ways.

As TreasureHunter said people in Eastern Europe are much more hesitant about credit. Owning your own home (no mortgage) is very important. A mortgage to them means you don’t have a home!

Capitalism is fantastic for the people that have and terrible for the have nots. When you have then you have power. That power is wielded over the have nots.

There is no answer when the individual is focused on what they want for themselves.

I wouldn't attribute the good times to communism because the same things could be said for capitalism in the 1950s to 1960s. In fact it was probably freer and more financially secure in western nations. Perhaps it was because the population was increasing post WW2, governments were smaller and more efficient, there wasn't as many taxes, laws and red-tape ... etc.
 
Yep, people livin’ in Soviet Russia in the 60’s were lucky. When I was a lad livin’ with ma sisters in Brisbane in the 60’s we’d have to get up half before we went to bed and lick the road clean with our tongues.

Soviet Russia? Luxury.
