China's upcoming lead has been announced by IMF:

This is I believe one of the most important charts of our age:

Under PPP, the Chinese economy will expand from $11.2 trillion this year to $19 trillion in 2016. Meanwhile the size of the U.S. economy will rise from $15.2 trillion to $18.8 trillion. That would take America's share of the world output down to 17.7%, the lowest in modern times. China's would reach 18%, and rising.

Just 10 years ago, the U.S. economy was three times the size of China's.

I think it will happen faster than 2016.

yea feels like it, isnt it, very possible

- if China re-values RMB even a few %...If it values RMB 50% for example, that doubles its GDP...
- if the PPP of the US will just freefall

probably both will occur simultaneously...All in all, it is so obvious that my child will grow up in an entirely different world and global political economy...

5 years away? Things would have to go south very quickly and deeply for that to happen to the USA. Not saying it won't, but we would be talking depression territory for it to happen that quickly.

anyone think some moron in the US gov. Will try do something about that? I shudder to think

War is always a possibility, China's military buildup still does not rival that of the u.s but the only problem is China owns all the debt.

Watching the 7.30 report this evening and they started talking about who we would side with in a war between US and China. I'm thinking, where did that come from?

/me quickly fires up iView ...

EDIT: Not there yet, looks like it takes a day to appear on iView

Oh duh, sorry how embarrassing, I meant to say 7pm project, so completely not a credible source which was why I was thinking what do they know? lol (nothing)

It was barely 7.30 here in SA when I first posted.
So doubly embarrassing, that a. named the wrong show, and b. I was watching the 7pm project to start with, but in my defence, someone else in the room was watching it while I hit the net.

lols. that is too funny shortstack but don't worry we won't hold it against you (for too long). Look at it this way, at least you weren't watching home and away or something even worse :D

What was the general consensus? Team China? Play Switzerland til a winner is decided? Did anyone vote for 'Team USA'?

And now for more evolved opinion, what do SS think?
