If silver is silver then why not pre decimal??

kool stack :) i use a rock tumbler to clean them just throw them in with some liquid soap and some fish tank rocks and let them spin come out like shinny new :)

I thought the first 4 stacks were thicker and 8 in the stack, tricky, that roll on the right and a couple extra bits..

I decided to make a wooden treasure chest and fill it with shiney silver and set myself a task of cleaning at least 10 coins a day, soaking in cloudy ammonia and then cleaning with a toothbrush loaded with sodium bicarb.

The ones on the bottom right(ish) were 925 so they got extra love. Then I started on the shiney shillings. You can see how far I got! Your back starts to ache and your thumbs go black with tarnish.

I bought a shot cleaner at a market for $10. You fill it with steel shot and some coins and it vibrates. I put some cloudy ammonia in and it sort of worked, so I put some sodium bicard in as well. It makes a sort of concrete and takes ages to clean off the coins.

It is just as easy to use the manual method.

I had to put it away because of all the mess and noise but when I get a chance I will have another go.

I'm pretty excited about junk silver I told my dad about stacking and it turns out my grandma left him a couple of cookie tins (maybe 10 kilos) of junk silver in it. It turns out she'd been saving all the silver coins she came across. I don't think most of them have seen the light for about 40 years. Its mostly Canadian and american does anyone know key dates I should be on the look out for. Thanks.
My dads coming out this summer with them and I'm gonna have a look at them and try to figure out what he's actually got.

kool good stash to search through, sorry i cant help with your coins over there but grade is important always a good way to get a rough idea of value is completed listings on eBay, sure some peeps from your side can help more than me but at worst its worth silver content from what i understand US silver is 90% 40% and 35% hope you got the 90's :)

Whoever said you can buy pre-decimals at below spot price?

I bought 7oz of Pre 1945 silver coins for 70% of spot around Christmas time. You gotta keep your eyes peeled and know when to pounce.
