I dare you

I was wondering lately and GP won't like this at all  - but can you turn off SS'ers for just 1 month? like turn off, shut down, pause from all sources of stacking, metals, world doom day preppers, or any source of SHTF dramatic event and just chill and smell the roses ;)

It's like going on a fast just, to purge or perhaps reset your thoughts about things :P

Just a thought provoking idea

I bet no one on this forum can do it  I know it would take some real effort but if I reflect back personally myself the threads and stories seem to be looping most of the time now or have I just reach a peak?

I also bet that once you do so an "opportunity of a life time would have passed and you would have missed it"   and that's what keeps most of us hanging in there wondering

Anyhow just thinking

Nope, 'fraid not.

I have to wait for the GSR to hit 75, or 45, in order for my plan to work.

Now I could check it at another site of course but as I don't get a newspaper or have a TV I would miss out on all the important world events and the associated commentary.

I'd have nothing to do at work. :(

And guys like TheEnd would just have nothing to do.... :D

Yep I can do it. Its called "pressing needs of the more important things in life".
These may include debt reduction, development applications, builder negotiations and other such life events that are more important than stacking and may require one to destack occasionally.
Life is more about metals.
For me the fun bit about metals is the anticipation of the purchase. Once received, it just goes on the pile and is rarely looked at again.

I'd probably end up as a socialist if I didn't have SS to straighten me out.

:)

I'm glad I have other distractions outside metals as I too run a SME however, I seem drawn back to this as an escape from the day to day challenges. It purely now side tracks me but until I find another interesting out there idea/concept to fill the void metals is it  I think if we were making some $$$ with metals it wouldn't be so bad :P

The other "Other Investments" and "Wealth Creation & Management" threads are interesting and I suppose the JOTD too :D

Stacking is a hobby - recreation - what I do for fun.
When "pressing needs of the more important things in life" filled my days, I missed my hobby.
When I want to stop and smell the roses, I go for a bike ride - the motorized kind. The longer the better.

I'm also spending time with a 6 year old grandson collecting copper. Indian head pennies, wheats, 1943 steel too. Silver has no impact on him yet, but I am laying the groundwork.

For me there is no point. This is one of 8 different forums(only 2 about metal) in my rotation I'm active on while at work :P However if I wanted I could dissapear for a month no problem! I wouldn't be missed since I don't really add any meaningfull discussion, I just enjoy the reads and knowledge from other members!

However giving up all forums and websites such as social media websites for a month would be pretty brutal.

Did you also notice we lot seem to be the "old school" bunch
I guess I don't fit in I'm only 27. It's funny when I go to coin shows and such, I always seem to be the youngest person there lol!

I'd like to say I could find more constructive things to do but I would probably just end up watching more porn on the internet. I do trade other things like shares, ETFs, options and futures which keeps me from going blind.

I think you do fit in. I, for one, welcome the young brigade to keep us old farts in the real world.

You lose. :) In 2012 or 2013, I stayed away from SS for two months during my busy season. I have already culled out most of the sites I used to visit and dropped my paid subscription as all were detrimental to my financial health.

As spot prices appear to be getting closer to the true bottom (blood is not running in the streets yet) it's perhaps the best time to be engaging in discussions. We are heading slowly but steadily toward despair in the gold/silver market cycle...this is when things get very interesting.

I think some miners will have to go belly up for it to signal that the bottom is imminent.
