Why is this even in the numismatics forum? It is obvious that none of these coins come from the Perth Mint, they haven't even got any pictures painted on them!

Surely there must be a junk silver section for old coins!

Very envious, and I don't usually care about other peoples' collections.

Waited half my life to own these - esp the '23... They're going to take pride of place in my store, but will be available to buy at some point after I get 'em NGC'd - as whole sets - I'm not breaking 'em up... that'd be numi sacrilege...
 
A PF63 (approximate) 1923 Sovereign sold for $4500 in London at Spinks today - I had a friend at the auction - https://www.spink.com/lot-description.aspx?id=13012316 - the 1/2 Sov (apr PR61/62) sold for $1300... The ones above are going to grade PF64/65. Looks like I timed the buy perfectly... I'm gobsmacked... No idea what the full unbroken set's worth...
 
I was just offered another 1923 set by a dealer in S Africa - ZAR79,995. That's a bit toppy for me, but in terms of a long-term investment, there being only ever 655 sets in existence, the market's hotting up vvv fast. I'm hanging onto mine - wish I had enough spare to buy another set though!

The dilemma now is whether to leave both sets as they are - unslabbed, au naturel, in their comfy cases or to grade 'em with NGC. Given the complete sets are so rare now I'd like to think a set unslabbed - at least practically - is worth as much as individually slabbed coins which are then sold-off one by one or kept with the original case, but I don't know.

What would you do Phil? Anyone?

NGC or no?

Stash em away for 5 years?

I saw you were looking for a half-sov recently - Do yourself a favour & go grab that 1911 full Sov proof on eBay instead (see above) - you won't regret it ;)
