I only ask as I have just purchased 3 1966 50 cent pieces off a member on here and paid for standard postage but when the letter turned up there was nothing inside the coins have broken through the side of the envelope obviously they were just thrown in the envelope and when I asked this member about this their response was "I can not do anything as you paid for standard postage" but shouldn't you still take some care like wrapping them in paper or a small piece of bubble wrap? I was then told again I only payed for standard postage which has nothing to do with how you package your items. How would you expect your items posted? Or how would you post something like this?

So they were sent in a normal every day run-of-the-mill envelope? Someone went full potato :/ Padded bag is $1.05 
I think in this case the onus is on the sender, common sense obviously did not prevail. Postage has nothing to do with how they're packaged. Are they a newbie?

There has to be a duty of care on the part of the sender - putting loose coins into a plain envelope designed for mailing a folded piece of paper is not sufficient if that's what you're indicating has happened.
At minimum the coins should be taped inside of a folded over piece of cardboard, not popped into a DL envelope with a 60c stamp.

Well that was easy to figure out... Very surprised by who it is. Also surprised they didn't offer a more favourable solution given the low cost of the transaction. Did you say you were going to post about it?
Not going to go rummaging through the members list to see who it might have been, but that is grossly insufficient packaging. As I said before, coins should at least be taped inside of a folded piece of card so they can't "slam" into the edge of a plane envelope and tear through. Silver is heavy, coins have momentum and exactly what is pictured happens.

That would be minimum I'd expect.
Loose coins in a paper envelope is just ridiculous.

I would like to clear up this topic, as anyone who has dealt with me knows that i have always packaged my items appropriately. The buyer wanted to purchase 3x 50c coins and i have him an option of postage. I offered him the cheapest postage possible as everyone knows postage on 3x 50c coins would make it not worth it. I sent it taped to a cardboard and i do not know how he would come to the conclusion i sent it loose based on an envelope.
I do not need to see what i did myself and you conclude based on your assumption. anyone who has dealt with me knows this and if other members think that a guy who has literally done hundreds of transactions would do this thing then i cant do anything about it.
You are lying through your teeth you can see it clearly in the picture what you have done and if you charged what you did for postage were is my refund for that too. As an envelope and stamp are not $2.
You should have bought a bubble lined envelope for $1.05 and a stamp which is still well under you quote of $2 but all this aside you are still responsible for correct packaging whether it be standard or insured
