How to store lotsa coin

Husband is at me to ensure storage of coins. A. safely B. somewhere

Have accumulated a lot of silver coin lately and they are currently on the kitchen bench in the process of cleaning - but what receptacle to store them in? I had some cute chocolate sauce jars I ate my way through but they won't fit through the neck. What other home made storage can you suggest?

What amount are we talking about, how much size/weight?

Tradie's toolboxes are pretty cheap and come in a wide range of sizes and, as most tradespersons are genetically programmed kleptomaniacs, toolboxes are sturdy and come with holes for padlocks.

then just hide it in the garage,bathroom, cupboard ceiling cavity or dog kennel under rags or rat taps.
 
First get a boat.
2nd get GPS
3rd sink the boat.

For home storage, got a German shepard dog?

Got a sling shot?
Got a bow & arrow?

Got a backyard & shovel?

Got a floor safe?

Get thinking, but do not forget where you did put it!!!!
 
Traditionally, large wooden chests, bound with metal have been used. They are great for burying on beaches

coinage so far about is mostly in small coin - but will be adding to that

tradies tool boxes - yep good idea - buy him a new one and use the old

Love books so would have to get an op shop one - my books are to read not carve up

No shepherd, no floor safe - have the back yard - will run that idea past him

Sorry no beaches possible round here they keep washing away and the state is anti repair of beach erosion

I was actually after small containers for step one of the storage - chocolate sauce bottles - could actually cover them in choccy sauce - that's until i need a midnight feast!!

Perhaps some cheap plastic food storage containers of various sizes? Then they can be sorted into type, stacked fairly easily into toolbox/safe/larger sealed container for burial, boat accident, whatever... :)
 
Actually what do you call those taxi coin dispenser thingeys? They might be good, used to have a few.

What do i search for to get one? or two or more
 
I used to hide pornographic magazines under the carpet in the built in robes I had, could place a heap of coins under there.
 
just buy a fireproof safe & be done with it .300oz & counting wont be long & youll have 500 its worth the extra money

"When I was a kid" a mate's elder brother used to hide them under his bed so his mother wouldn't find them. Only he had so many under there the legs of the bed couldn't touch the floor and the bed just kind of wobbled there levitating on an enourmous pile of magazines.. I don't know who he thought he was fooling. :D

but yes under the carpet is a cool idea!
 
Hmm...I've got some industrial grade coin storage canisters around somewhere. I'll dig them out and post pics tomorrow. I think I've still got the supplier's number too.
 
I've read about people putting coins inside old xmas decorations and throwing them in the big suitcase with the other dusty old decorations. The trick is not to die suddenly without mentioning this in your will!

If I am in the building I can get it out in under 30 seconds. If not, my insurance covers it.

(Edit) And if you need inspiration, check my video of my first storage space. That one is even faster then the one I have now, 5 seconds and walk away with a drawer of precious metal. But I needed a bigger storage space, hehe.
 
leave a couple in view so if someone breaks in they see them and think they have got a bounty, but make sure theyre the 100mils type;)
