How do you store multiple encapsulated coins?

Hi,

How do you store multiple encapsulated coins? E.g. Kookaburra, Panda etc.?

The capsule's diameter is 45 mm in most cases (coin being inside).
I think coin tubes would be practical, but 45 mm interior diameter is a very "unpopular" dimension.

So, how do you store a bunch of encapsulated coins?

Seems like these Airtite H series are too tight.
The original Panda and Kookaburra coin capsules are too large for them (45 mm is slightly more than the Airtite tube).

I was thinking of getting some sort of plastic or carbon tubes and get them cut up. But they're not transparent and one would have to improvise caps for both ends (harder). And the entire thing would be so McGyver-ish :D
 
Another vote for AirTite clear tubes... I have shoeboxes full for ASE, Brits, Maples, Phil, etc.

I do the ASE AirTite capsules 40mm with foam rings... not an exact fit for the maples or brits, but close enough and they just bounce a tiny bit with foam ring protecting them. Close enough is close enough with the rings... but that is certainly not the case with regular capsules. The 40mm ring ones also fit my few Libertads and Elephants and basically any 1oz bullion or round you will find (but what round is worth a capsule? lol). I use white since I heard a few stories at coin shows of the black rings making a weird dust that got into the coin edges, but that is probably just myth?

I think the corresponding tubes for the 40mm are model I... I've found them available in red, blue, and black caps available (authentic AirTite ones are red, but they all work the same).

You can get the original tube with one cap or there are knock offs with two caps for pretty cheap on eBay. I think buy capsules by lots of 250 and tubes by the 10s, so I believe I get the foam ring capsules for around $3/1 each and the cap tubes for about $1 each (usd prices), but don't quote me on that. Any options without capsules? 45+ mm would be best (provided that 45 mm is the exterior diameter of the capsules).
So, 47 mm would be approx. fine (prolly a bit loose, even)

Just the tubes themselves?
 
I store multiple capsules like this, i make sure that they can last for all the rigors of environment. Sometimes, I put them in a airtight plastic tupperware for double protection. I do not observed any toning or degradation for bullion coins. The Proof coins and slabbed graded coins were also vacuumed sealed.

Vacuum sealing is nice, but you still need a lot of space. I prefer "tighter" means of storage. Like tubes, boxes with almost no space around the coins.
I do use albums as well, but they usually work better without the capsules (and loose coins tarnish in the plastic pockets)...

Still could not find anything suitable :(

I think tubes are the best option. But ones that don't sell with capsules together.
 
Maybe a new coin from QB should be given to me as a present from them for sharing their website! :cool:
Anyway the box is good quality and I saw it in APMEX too, not really profitable to order to Poland from US for me though.
Leuchttrum also has a good quality of storage boxes etc, but I am not sure if 2 oz coins will fit
