This is exactly how Talisman sold the Welsh Dragon. Sold first batch at release price then raised the price the next day. And yes they were listing on ebay at the same time . They must set aside a certain amount to sell on ebay to make a little more money. I've only been buying from them this year but I've always gotten my order.

Realllly noob question, but why do people spend $125 on a 1oz coin? Is it just because they are a collectors item- not many minted? same as why people buy art?
Basically im just getting into PM - but more for security - and i dont understand why people buy Pamp Dragons either - say $45 for 1oz - surely Koalas, Maples, or just cast bullion is a better investment? Is it just for looks - or do some have better resale value?

The answer you gave to your own question is right, they are a collectors item. When you say you are getting into PM , really you are referring to bullion. Some bullion does go for a dollar or two more an ounce than others but it's still one ounce of silver.
The Dragons are numismatic, modern numismatics created by the mints. If you get the right one, you can do really well, check the thread here that talks about the mongolia wolverine, owl and hedgehog series.
Sometimes there is bullion that crosses into numismatics for example the Canadian wildlife Timberwolve coins that were issued at about the same price as a maple but now sell for 10 to 15 dollars more per coin.
There are a lot of variations on these, such as graded coins, error coins, and the traditional numismatics such as the U.S.A. 1909-s V.D.B. cent . You are on the right track though with your comparison to art.

Gainesville coins are not bad either, although their selection is limited.

ALL I am saying NEVER use Talisman coins as your ONLY source, otherwise, you may very well be left in the cold, Just like me with BOTH Welsh dragon, Berlin black dragon, and Opal Koala coins. Luckily, I got a Berlin black dragon from Downie, and a Opal Koala coin from another dealer.
Got an order in with Talisman for a couple of coins, got a shipping number, but nothing has shown up at my PO Box yet. as for the chinese dragon I purchased mine for 114.50 from prospectstampsandcoins.com.au get most of my stuff there or Downies
