High Relief 1oz dragon proof

So is it worth getting one or not?

Buy and flip on eBay if you don't want it.

Don't see much of a downside to it, there's always the 30 day refund window if it flops hard (unlikely).

Well if people are getting up at 03:00 to buy one I would say yes if you can get it at issue price and do a quick flip.

I am keeping mine but it may go up in value.

Not sure i want to do too many 3 am perth mint buys, but i did get the coin (hopefully), do they do it on a first in first served basis? They have cancelled my order for the opal coin, but not yet bothered to let me know.

That sucks!

Hopefully you have the dragon though.

I hope the queuing system works like that otherwise what's the point of it?

Anyone care to speculate on the future value of the high HR dragon?

Silly money for the next week or so as people desperate for one will try hard once dealers are drained.

Speculating is going to be held in check because you either bought one for yourself, or got up at 03:00 to flip a single coin, it's not like someone cornered the market and can demand very high prices.

I can see a lot of these that are in private hands staying that way, this one might actually hold its value over time and I can see it increasing in value if it is as good as people say it is.

If it is the start of a new series then even more so because for $110 a coin, it isn't going to be hard to collect a set over the years and it will look impressive.

I cant believe how many of you still get sucked in by the mint. These coins are horse shit. Some may make a quick buck selling to suckers who dont know jack, but most will get stuck with this crap. If you like looking at them and your not doing as an investment, fair enough.

Real serious stackers and investors don't touch this shyte. Bullion bars and coins are the real go. 1oz coins or below only IMHO.

How many more will get taken for a ride by the Perth Mint I wonder.

Me for one!

I stack boring bars for investment. I have some coins too, proper numis coins, not coloured Wiggles commemoratives.

I also like the lunar dragons because I like dragons, not interested in the Lunar Calendar in any other way.

So I have a bit of everything, I should make money on the bars and investment coins, I should have fun on the dragons. If they don't appreciate in monetary terms I will just sit on them.

People buying lots of a single item are gamblers and sometimes it works and sometimes not, they generally tend to want the quick flip though, rather than sitting on them for ages in the hopes of a gradual increase. If they have done their homework and know the market they won't have a problem, if they buy everything the Perth Mint releases then there is no hope for them.

Well Scorp people buy what they like. Silly ain't it? I can say I do feel foolish when buying 1 oz. for $100.00 but I try to pick and choose carefully. I can guarantee you my stack far outweighs my numis.

Hey Scorp,
I reckon I will see you lining up at the Perth ANDA show for a 2 ounce dragon, you know you want one!

So I take it the whole family will be buying the show special!

Will you be flipping any dragons after the show?

Absolutely my family will be getting 1 each and yes I will flip. My opinion on these coins is that I like them and want to keep one for my own collection. If by flipping a few I can get one or two for free then why wouldn't I? It's the same with the High Relief. If I want them I will be able to buy up to 25 at issue price (I don't want to say where from so don't ask). I'll probably end up getting between 5 and 10 selling a few on eBay and keeping 1 or 2.

I estimate that the High Reliefs will sell for between $200 and $300 on eBay meaning that after fees I will make about a 60 - 100 profit (then again they may not which is why I don't want to take a risk on all 25). Sell four of them at even 50 profit and the two in my collection cost nothing. This is the advantage I have by being in WA. I'm not in the coin business but if I was I would call being in WA a competitive advantage. I would be a fool to not take advantage of my proximity to the mint.

I like them, piedford, fat but funny how small they are!
Asked for 888, 88 or even just 8, got 555 & 557.
And I will be at ANDA with the fam, both days :)
I will flip the excess.
