Can any one post pics of the 1990 bullion red kangaroo vs the 1990 proof red kangaroo. I can't seam to find the difference and have been told its just the strike that was different and not the fininsh. So how do you tell what you got? Help from any google savvy stacker would be great.

SO which picture is of the proof 1990 and which is the bullion 1990. I so can't pick the difference. My eyes aren't what they used to be.
Ok so from my research so far it looks like the Perth Mint didnt do a 1oz bullion red kangaroo in 1990 so does that mean my 1990 red kangaroo is a proof with a limited mintage?

There is a 1990 red on ebay in the states,your picture looks like a bullion issue to me

I think you might be right as the mint sight says no bullion 1990 red kangaroo just the grey one. Which also means McDonalds coin and Banknotes is wrong too. So how do I get the Perth Mint to straighten this out, because that's a lot of misinformation that could cause someone to pay a premium for a 'rare'1990 Red when he ain't so rare, or is he. I followed the 1 troz gold of this series when the first bullion gold kangaroo was issued in 1990 (Red Kangaroo). I continued to acquire the bullion gold kangaroo until 1995 when the kangaroo type ceased to be identified. When I got a 1991 proof gold kangaroo (Common Wallaroo), I noticed that it did NOT match the 1991 bullion kangaroo (Grey Kangaroo). Upon further research I noticed the trend where the previous year proof design is the current year bullion design. For the 5 year run where the kangaroo type is identified, they are (1989-1993 proof, 1990-1994 bullion) Red Kangaroo, Grey Kangaroo, Common Wallaroo, Nailtailed Wallaby and Whiptail Wallaby.anonmiss said:

Just to clarify, in 1990 the Mint issued the following:
- Australian Nugget 'Red Kangaroo' 1oz Gold Bullion coin with a maximum mintage of 300,000 (Sold out).
- Australian Nugget 'Grey Kangaroo' 1oz Gold Proof coin of which 519 were sold individually and 2,248 were sold as part of a Five-Coin Set.
The information on the website is being amended to clarify that the 1990 bullion coin was a Red Kangaroo apologies for the confusion.
