Hello Everyone,
New stacker here. I've been following silver closely for the past six months or so, at the advice of my brother-in-law. I have followed gold prices for a couple of semesters in college in the mid-80s, haven't done much since.
I spent a lot of time (couple of decades) career-focused, followed by getting married, having kids and all that. Have developed a decent nest egg over that time, and at mid-career, I decided it was foolish to have ALL my investments in paper-based assets. I'm pretty concerned about currency debasement and what that means for the average Joes like me out there. So, I finally made the decision to get some physical silver.
I had been doing a lot of reading, watching videos and talking with several folks including my brother-in-law since January or so. When the DJIA hit 15,400 or so, I converted some of those stock fund dollars into REAL money. Woohoo!
I saw silver go to just under $22, which looked to be a sideways pricepoint based on historical charts, so I got 1000 oz. The next week or two it goes down to the upper $19s. So I doubled down on another 500 oz.
My stack is pretty evenly split between semi-numis like Eagles, Maples, Libertads, Austrian Phils and bullion from OPM, NTR and GSM, 80% rounds and 20% bars all in 1 oz measures.
It's hard to describe how much confidence I have in this investment. I was showing the coins and bars to the kids and tellign them I would like to pass these on to them. It's strange to feel to good about finally not being so exposed to the fake fiat currency winds.
Anyway, any advice folks might have for a newbie would be welcome.
Cheers,
