Has any one ever crossed path with a forged PM 1 oz silver Kookaburra ?

Yes I have a long time ago.I might still have those coins.

Unfortunately, it looks like we are starting to see fake Kookaburras circulating- not on SS but on FB and eBay. This was bought to my attention this evening by a gracious chap who bought them from FB and eBay. He was able to identify them by weight. He discovered that they weighed 26 grams ! Here are two coins confirmed fakes - a 2025 and 2016 coins. It is not obvious by visual inspection that the 2016 coin is a fake.

Have to say the 2016 coin is a good fake but you can spot the 2025 is a fake straight away. The lettering is raised which it shouldn't be.

Do remember which video or which year kookaburras were mentioned ?

You can see the AU has different lettering fond to STRATIAN…

A good rule is if you're new to this only buy from established companies. If you're experianced you can easily tell the fakes.

The 2025 coin looks straight up bad. The 2016 coin seems ok if you look at it quickly, but on second look you can see the detail is not great.
