Just curious if any of you are doing hand pours in Australia? We have a couple that are doing pretty well in the US. Maggie is selling the Rodebaughs, and if you grabbed one or more from her, good for you they're a very nice little chunky bar. We also have Silver Addict, SA@YPS on here pouring them. These things are pretty cool for bars, it's even better when you do regular business with the people making them.

I have a jewelry store and polished up the 3 on the top left. The kitkat on the top left is a bar that I donated the silver to make the bar, then bought it in an auction. All the money went to charity, so why not. The others 2 I have duplicates of, and thought, what the heck, so I put them to the wheel. The one ounce kitkat, 3rd down on the left picked up an odd reflection, it actually shines very well, not sure what the heck happened in the pic.

I'd really like to see any hand or cottage pours made in Australia. Let's see them, please.

I'm currently pricing the equipment to do some 10oz bars. What type of molds do you use?
 
Hi guys,
I'm new to this forum but have been wanting to pour some bars myself. I'm nearly ready but just need a furnace to start melting my silver shot. Emanance you can find good priced graphite molds on eBay and there's a guy from the USA who will even make you molds how ever you want them. Ill be making some coins and bars and will post them on here. As a question any wherei could find reasonable priced silver shot? I have been lucky with eBay in getting around 6 or so oz
 
I'm not the guy pouring them, I'm just a lazy dude that likes them and pays for them. He'll check in on this thread at some point. He started off melting with a torch, and bought a furnace later, from what he told me.

Come on now. Somebody on here is pouring their own, don't be shy and post up some pics.
 
I was intrigued by this post and did a little research because I thought this might be a cheaper way to acquire silver at a slightly cheaper price but it brought up some questions maybe someone here could answer. Places like APMEX sell silver shot but state it is not for investment purposes. Why? Is it illegal or a question of the silvers quality? Also, I noticed a couple of mints state that they refuse to take hand pours. If that is true, who could you sell the silver to?
 
PeacePeople, what did you melt down? All shot or any bars and or rounds? . . I would be VERY interested in doing this on the US side of things.
 
These are very cool!

I have a backyard furnace and a decent crucible, but I have only melted aluminium up to this point. I also wouldn't want to put silver in a contaminated crucible, or pour it in a paddock!

We just poured some seashell shaped bits recently, and I will confess that pouring silver certainly crossed my mind.

I need a lot better equipment first though!
 
I would need to find some rounds first . . but hummm . . I really like this idea. I don't want to melt down my Panda's, ;) so does anyone have a bead on some beat up rounds that can be had at spot to play around with and see what I can do?

The Perth Mint says they also do silver granules, but no price listing as far as I can see. Perhaps give them a call.

Cheers for that, I'll have to look into it! I'm living in adelaide and I have gone to the exchange jewelers and there pretty costly.

There is a site that will give you the ability to make a cheap furnace ( I've been really lazy but I bought the flower pot furnace manual )

Thing is I want to see if my molds turn out but I bought a propane and touch to melt only 1 oz of silver and it would get hot enough. I read that mapp gas would but I don't want to waste more money if it doesn't as I don't have an oxygen torch or anything.
