I bought a bunch of shiny metal and it's USELESS!!!
- Takes up space
- Heavy
- Have to secure it
- Can't eat it
- Can't live in it
- Shops don't accept it
- Earns no interest
- Pays no dividends
- No tax breaks

I know...it's a car, right?

Good one:)

Just was thinking... with all the serious discussions lately we need to have a lighter moment.
Latest moment of insanity came when I admit to purchasing 2 royal wedding 1 oz silver coins...I'm a sucker for getting swept up in the whirl-wind of it all. What's your confession???

I got the most frivolous purchase ever!

I went to the PO to send something - and had to pay with my atm card... but the min cost to use the card is $10... the postage only cost about $5...so I said how much is that set of rabbits - she said $290... I said ok, that should put me over the $10 min :)

I bid many items, win and paid, the goods never come.
(the groups of winning that I paid the most, never come, the rest of the many winning arrived)

many years ago.

I bought .... dreaming series silver at at least 100% premium over spot.

Regret? Definitely, but oooh so shiny.... (droools).

At times I come close to purchasing controversial Reichsmarks (NAZI coins) purely for a bit of history, but am deterred from going ahead. Not a bit of history many wish to 'relive' I suppose.

I actually wish they were easily available myself, I mean in good condition and legit...
History is just that. Not saying the victor wrote it wrong but murder and war is unforgivable in any scale, we all buy ASE and the US are not exactly a peaceful nation (in my opinion).

I type this at the risk of Sounding like a NAZI lover which I'm not I assure you, but if I could buy some Reichsmarks without being judged I would. Unfortunately to keep those around me happy I refrain from doing so.

Plenty of non-metal frivolous purchases here! The buying of PMs actually helped me to cut down spending on frivolous stuff ;)

What did I purchase with:

1 x $200 Cook coin (9.167 g gold)
1 x 100 kina coin (0.2769 oz gold)
2 x Olympic $100 coin (20.042 g gold)
5 x 1 oz silver coins

A brand new (though second hand) yamaha scooter with 200 klm on the clock

and ...............

Frivilous I know. But just goes to show the buying power of gold and silver these days (selectively bought of course). :)

ts only currency. And the Third Reich discontinued production of silver coins after 1939 (and the beginning of WW2).

Besides, I buy as many US silver dollars as I can get hold of and don't have any qualms despite my personal objection to the countries questionable foreign policies. I won't turn this thread into a serious political thread weighing up historical "bads". In short though, I'll buy silver anywhere, from anyone and in any form so long as it's legal.

and with regards Third Reich coins............. I sell them much faster than I can source them and predomantly to Amercans! :)
