Gabon African ounce series

I've heard from some sellers that this coins are really amazing when you have them in hand. Generally I think no picture do any good to coin. All my coins look better "live" than on pictures.

I also prefer antique finish (and with crystals) than "painted" one. Some of the colored really look "overwhelmed".

Some collectors are very amazed by rhino, elephant and lion (previous).
Posters here are quite agains the series.

I agree there is too many of them. Putting out new coin so fast... In generally world is flooded with to big offering of different coins - it's quite hard to get unique collection. I have this trouble and I'm "seriously" collection coins for only few months.

Danger serious looks really better alive although I would say that shark is overrated. Jellyfish is very pretty and is not to expensive. New snake looks somehow funny.

I've noticed some comments about some eBay sellers. I don't sell any coins on eBay. Never did. Sometimes took some time before item arrive. 111 negative feedback doesn't mean much if seller received more than 30k of ratings. Sometimes there aren't problems with seller but buyers...

To return back to topic. Some where asking why there isn't more countries in the series.

If you look the map you will see that lions aren't living in every African country:

Term African doesn't mean they are living in every country. If you will say "European" bear you wouldn't expect to see them in Portugal?

Why are they selecting country like this... Dunno.

Still this series doesn't look bad to me. Would love to have some of this coins. They look nice, they aren't painted...

Nobody complain that they didn't put them in nice boxes. Danger series have quite beautiful boxes. Love even the "outer", paper ones. :)

Just coin overload..plain and simple. Too many too fast ruined this one. Hopefully others will learn from these mistakes. Nice coins with bad marketing equal failure.

The price could increase so if I have money I would buy maybe one lion. For around 150. :)

Quite a pity they ruined this series. Coins look very nice.

LOL
they literally make one coin a month )))

That's great idea! Why don't they strike the name of the month in which the coin was released.

I have first three coin of this series, and now I am missing two? I wish to have complete series, but paying over $100 for this coin instead of buying 4x pandas is.... :/
...maybe if these coins would come in beautiful mahogany box with glass top :P ...and when I open it, it would play some African music. ;) Maybe then I would reconsider buying next coin.

OK Where I can get one?

?

are they really Africa silver ? or just Canadian/Australian/US silver?

That 4 oz Congo lion is garbage in my opinion.

I love the African Ounce series that this thread is discussing although it looks like they will have about 12 coins this year so.....WTF is the mint doing???

Looks like they are just going to go back and forth between Gabon & Congo as well. Would be nice to have a coin representing all of the countries in Africa but apparently not going to happen.

I might have seen this before but am too lazy to go looking for it does anybody know what Mint is producing this series?

Mostly. :) I think it actually looked better on sample pictures. :)

Is this part of the same series:

?
Leopard

It comes with box so I'm not sure.

Pretty confused regarding this series. :)
