Whirrr click; welcome to the Royal Mint pro-active preemptive smart site:

Thank you for committing to purchase 99,000 items; your payment of GBP4.95 million has been debited to your entered credit card and a lien extended to all properties you possess. To cover remaining funds, your children have been sold into slavery and your precious metal collection seized. You have five seconds to enter the 24-digit cancellation code sent to an obscure email address we just invented. Four seconds. Three...

 That was over AU $10 million that I tried to add to my cart.

Yeah, but you would still have that AU$10 million (in pounds) so I don't see the problem?!

Unfortunately my wife does not share your view

I gave up trying....I must have tried literally 2 dozen times and was never able to complete my order. So much traffic apparently. Very frustrating.

Maybe I'll try later today.

Was able to make an order last night around 7pm EST and website was responding very quickly, you might want to try around that time.

And you might want to try with another browser: I failed many times using my usual Chrome but then I tried with Firefox and it worked. Not sure if the reason of my success is the time (re what Kam said) or the browser but at least you can try to change ;)

Good luck

Buy now or miss out!!

You may scoff!

But it is...
Limited mintage
First in the Series
A popular subject
A proven design

Others in similar series are all sold out.

Mind you, despite that, I only got two of them.

I didn't bother with the 100 for 100 and I have 10 of most of the 20 for 20 (none of the many heads of the Queen though)

Yep, I may scoff... but I've already ordered a couple myself :P If I could afford more at the moment I would have gotten several.

With a mintage of 100,000 it is not going to appreciate a lot in value. I think the mint is just "cashing in" on a popular design by coming out with this coin. As for those buying it, I wonder if it is a substitute for the "real" Britannia coins which have appreciated considerably and are quite rare on the secondary market.

True jazzy, that there may be some people who missed the boat on the 2014 proofs and simply want to have coins in their possession with that now very recognizable Clark Britannia design, but 100,000 compared to hundreds of thousands or tens of millions is actually not such a large number.

Besides, from my recollection, the other $X for $X coins produced by the RCM for example, sold quite well and were gobbled up.

I have seen a photo of this new 50 for 50 coin and it looks really sweet.

Clark's design is exceptional and for that reason alone I think the coin is worth strong consideration for owning.

I did buy this coin because I missed the Proof 2014 and I am very happy with this opportunity to own this amazing design.

I don't care at all about the mintage, they can produce 10 million of them, each year if they want. I did not buy to flip.

I can very well understand the frustration of owners of the 2014 Proof coin. Especially if they intended to sell for a great profit down the road. This "moove" from the Royal Mint is really bad for them.

I know, they are gonna argue that the 2 coins are different, one is an Ounce, Proof and 2014. The other is only 31g and is BU. Mintage is not the same. And they are 100% right. The thing is that people like me who just wanted the design are not gonna pay thousands of $$$ now. Just not gonna happend!

So flippers will still find buyers, collectors who want the specific 2014 Proof coin, but the pool of buyers has gotten much saller since this 2015 50 pounds coin is out on the market.

I'm with O-to that's exactly why I bought it, I missed out on the 2014 one :(
I have a few pairs now, both 2014 and these new ones :)

I wonder when these new coins will ship. Last time I ordered direct from the RM, if I recall correctly, the shipping was reasonably fast.

Some of you in the U.K. may have already gotten these in hand.

Whomever gets 'em, please post pics and video.

I got an email overnight that mine had shipped. No idea how long they'll take to get to Australia. I have suspicion the surface finish will not be anywhere near as nice as the 2014 proofs.

Selling almost 10,000 a day, hopefully that pace can keep up.
Down to around 70,000 today. 10k/day seems about right.

If the RM does their marketing right, they could sell the entire batch of 100,000 coins before the close of 2015.
