No, just saw this one and thought i'd share it, i've been very curious what the fakes would look like & if you tell by looking at it, there's been a few people selling PM 5g gold bars around $50-$70 under spot prices, not sure if they're real or fake i suspect fake, these look like packaging or tamper case is almost perfect

The problem is the people making youtube vids of these fake gold bars are buying them from ebay or Alibaba knowing fully well they are fakes in the first place!

Experienced gold buyers would not purchase gold certicards or gold bars from random ebay sellers or at a much lower than real cost price, this guy claims to be an experienced gold buyer and yes he asked for his money back but notice he is not bothered at all,its because he bought it much cheaper than a real certicard expecting or fully knowing it to be fake!

People who buy gold know where to buy gold and ebay is not where to buy it.

Some collectors do get burnt because they take a chance on an ebay gold coin but they usually buy "with doubt" and weigh uo the risk to themselves.

People who dont normally buy gold purchase these fake bars because they know no better and think they may be getting a bargain or could even fool gold buyers for quick profit.

There is always a "slim chance" that one of these may get past a gold dealers inspection and checks when they themselves purchase it and even the chance of a crooked dealer palming the odd one off instead of cutting their losses for their stupidity but a youtube blogger who is an experienced gold buyer just happens to get ripped off by purchasing gold from ebay and then needs to share his mistake with other experienced gold buyers! lol

I am not an experienced gold buyer but most of my gold has come from a repeatable dealer with the odd piece here and there in the trust of SS members and the reason is gold is way too expensive to be buying willy Nilly from just anyone especially ebay sellers.
 
i think the people that make or sell the fakes think it's easier to get away with a fake ceritcard than a coin or cast because chances are your not going to destroy the certicard packaging to do tests, get measurements or do a specific gravity test,

I am lucky enough to live close to Perth Mint so I have no problems buying their certicards because I buy them with full intention of cashing them in at either Perth Mint or Perth Bullion but I doubt a genuine gold dealer anywhere would fob off one of these Chinese fakes as real.

An ss member could get burnt but that would spell the end of the selling member and their + feedback.

I think a proportion of these fakes are used for "sensationalism" on youtube blogs! I have a few fakes and let me tell you they are recognised as fake immediately on personal inspection. These fakes are made for opportunistic,s who believe they can fool people but they are the ones who have been fooled.

Chinese fake manufacturers would make them exclusively for con artist criminal clientele if they were really that passable for the real thing.
 
interesting that there are fakes in the black packaging now, had assumed it was only the green ones before.

anyways in light of this, thought I should point out a fake gold bar Aussie seller 'au-bu21' on eBay - buyer beware.

Has anyone actually tested their green and black ceriticards with a UV light to see if this is the case ?
It would seem a simple enough test to perform, as UV LEDS are cheap as chips.

Does anyone know if the fakes also feature these same patterns ?

Does anyone know if there are any other in built security features for the new black certicards that could be checked to ensure authenticity?

Just how good is paypal protection if someone sells you a fake bar on ebay ? Is there any risk that you will have to wear the loss ?
