A phone camera can take some very good macro shots if you put the lens part of the phone on top of any cheap magnify glass from ebay. A cheap and quick way to get some good detail from any camera phone. :D

here is a quick shot i took of a 1oz ASE with a iphone 6. It's rough, but can still get a lot of detail.

Sorry Leo but this is as good a quality as I can get. I don't have anything to magnify and due to the small size of the coin, phone camera, lighting and quite possibly my poor photography skills, this is as good as I can get after spending longer fiddling around with it than I expected! Hope it's of some use.

That's fine, it's good enough to do some comparisons. Taking in to account your photos are not flat on, different lighting and also the coins would be produced at different times so strike details would change over time. Your image matches very well to the image Apmex has. Even better as your coin has better detail, so a better strike. :)
There is no way a fake could do such a good job on such a small coin. Also hard to imagine someone would even bother going to such detail for a small 1/20oz coin with a low value.

Sorry i never saw this post when you first added it, as i could have reassured you back then and saved you all the hassle.

No problems. There were a few people that had helped me out when I originally posted. I was mostly wanting confirmation just so i could give them the actual end result. It was nearly two years ago... I'd kind of written it off as not legit, so finding it was real ended up as a pleasant surprise. At least the info is now on here for future reference.
 
Is there a name for the phobia of counterfeit panda coins?
 
Ressurecting an old thread but I got my hands on a 1984 1/20 as well that was in OMP. Tested funny on PMV so waiting to XRF. In my limited experience the PMV seems suited to 1/4 or 10g sized pieces and larger. 1/10 Oz bordeline and 1/20 too thin. 0.5g gold is very hit and miss too.

Are you referring to the original Sigma PMV or the Pro?
