Fake 1 oz gold bar warning from Perth Mint.

I reported a likely eBay fake to them a couple of weeks ago and they confirmed it was a counterfeit.

It was an Australian retailer...can't remember which. I'd have to get out the receipt. So I am likely to have a fake?

Hm.. not sure with Perth Mint as I have not own them yet, but for the certificate, have you checked with the website ?

I have PAMP bullion which I can check the barcode using Veriscan iPhone QR barcode app.

Fluorescent Ink
I can see the fluorescent ink but I don't see the square patch they talk about. Maybe it is the wrong wavelength for detection like they suggest might be the case on that page. I'm not sure.

Edit: square patch is seen on $5 note. Cannot seem to see rectangular patch that they speak of. Though it appears the torch is working as it should.

Sounds handy; thanks for sharing. I am getting a bit paranoid about not seeing any text under UV light; maybe I will try another torch.

Hi,

I questioned the Perth Mint about this a little while ago and basically under a UV light nothing will show unless the card has been tampered with. This is for the newer black cards. I believe the older green ones should say seal intact.

Also those cheap torches are NOT genuine UV lamps...

"I have clarified the information with our Packaging Manager and confirm that the VOID will only show if the card is tampered with.
It will not show under a UV lamp. My apologies for any confusion caused.

In relation to the black card. It should look like this except that the VOID would not be in pink (white) and would only show if tampered with.
The Bar number will start with B

There is no hidden security method other than to open the card.
