Experiences with Rand Refinery gold bars?

Hi,

Have you ever bought/seen up close any Rand Refinery gold bars?

They're South African (of course...) and not very popular in the rest of the World.

Here's how one looks like:

The sealed package is a bit similar to Perth Mint's Certicard (which is so often flawed/parts not aligning well etc.).

If you had any experiences with this bar/manufacturer (regardless of bar size/weight) - please share your thoughts, feelings :) Thank you!

I stay away unless you have a solid seller that you can trust... there's alot of fakes on these, especially thick ones, where they've done 'em exactly as the real ones...

I am sure this is not helpful but in my mind is kind of related.
I personally do not buy anything that comes in security packs as they are to hard to test with no XRF in close proximity.
I can pretty much tell gold from the feel and to have plastic and card around it makes that impossible for me.
I know lots of places have "security features" but they are just a selling point with limited validity.
I mean we are talking about cardboard and plastic here and that is easy to fake given the right tools.

Anything in a Certicard or capsule will test fine using a PMV.

I've seen the Rand gold bars (cast and minted) and I think they've changed to a black card recently. They're nice, but I can't see a reason to buy these over more well known brands. I'd buy a 5g for interest's sake, but I wouldn't be building a stack on them.
