Since we lost the original post about ENGELHARD
It's only the early pored bars that are worth a hefty premium ;)
The later minted ones are nothing special
AND ONLY THE SMALLER SIZES
10oz used to sell for $450-$500
Now down to $320 average
It's the odd size ones that bring a hefty premium ;)
Like the 3 oz that sold recently for just over $1000
The minted bars & prospector rounds are a plenty
Forget the 100oz bars ,

Just putting out there as some newbies think
ANYTHING ENGELHARD sell for a premium

$70US for a ASE? Is Brilliant Uncirculated how all eagles come from the mint or is this different?

edit: oops was meant to quote your link there spanner

If you collect them $40 each is OK
I wouldn't pay more than $30-$35 each

I really don't understand why some of these engelhard bars sell for so much. That 1oz bar is already selling for more than 1kg of silver! And I don't find it anything special.

Some collectors are crazy. I can understand paying huge premiums for rare and beautiful pieces of silver art, but these old Engelhart bars are just bars, with a company logo stamped on them. To me they are ugly. There are far more beautiful bars around, imo.

But I guess beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.
