^ Wow, another 2001D going for a high price??

230856952969

This 2001D went for $302 three days ago.

Checking PandaStats; up to the 4th the MS69 2001-Ds have all been going for the normal $140-160 range... has something changed?

Shill bidding or market price manipulation at its finest?

The last few sales have been in the $140-$150 range again.

Even Michael/pandamoneya has a Buy It Now listing for around $170. Doesn't make sense why someone would bid it up to the high $290s-$300s.

I am wondering right now if those were one one of the now famous "small" D?

Hahhaa... someone bid on my one!

It's only at $10AUD at the moment! :)

Alas, mine is the more common Large D.

Call it a speculative buy but I just purchased a small D for $500.00

time will tell ,IMHO i believe it to be more rare than the 2003 mirror for sure, you would see many more pop up on the market by now ,if they where that abundant , just my 2 cents:), maybe not graded so soon but for sure you would see OMP ,if there was that many around (remember the 2003 mirror?) these 2 varieties are easily distinguishable especially when you compare them side by side so folks will know the difference pretty readily not like the 2003 mirror that kept everyone guessing including me:) time will tell

I'll get to working on the coin compendium specimens. That will (eventually) give us some population estimates.

Price of the 1992 SD MS 69 Small Date Panda seem to be skyrocketing.
The last auction just ended at US$588.00

Funny thing is that I just purchased one from Clark Smith a couple of weeks ago for $375.00.
That might seem a little high but the older pandas seem to be like this, drastic price differences up or down within weeks or months. I have been trying to get one of these in 69 for a while in the $400-$500 range and found 0 , this seems to be a very hard coin to get in a 69 usually with a bad luster or white spots , I have graded quite a few in OMP and never yet been able to get a 69. Many may disagree but I think this may be the next most valuable silver 1 oz panda in 69 after the "Big 3" , excluding proofs and some of the newer varieties. Anyone else have much experience in getting these graded?
