Downies genuine 1930 Australian Penny on ebay

The condition isn't that great, but that's about what the coin is worth in terms of numismatic premium and more.

25k for really good condition would be fair considering the demand.

ive bid on it, (winning) although, it looks suss to me too.. First instinct. I dont know enough about the 1930 in all honesty but want to see if its an indian or english mint coin etc. i will ask for better photos :) and call downies tomorrow just to confirm.

From Ad...
"Hi please use the zoom function for close up pictures" - No Zoom function..only enlarge.Nice in focus, crisp scan would help....at least.

"No I want remove the coin from its protective package for clearer pictures"

Anyone in here going to be placing bids for this? *hmmmz*...

Not many of these pennies around.

Not the sort of coin I would buy without handling it first. eBay is a poor way to buy these coins - but might be a great way to sell.

Looks legit to me :) All the letters in "Australia" are in the right place on the beads and divots for a London reverse.

"R" in Britt & "N" in OMN Are in the right place on the divots for it to be an Indian Obverse

9 look correct, 3 is crisp & correct, 0 is the right shape to be correct.

Some pictures do have zoom! You need to scroll down on the picture bar to see it" Pitty they didn't scan both sides of the Penny :(

I call this one legit. ;)

nice one,,, thank you all, i'm still winning, yeah,,, how exciting.. :)

i guess im the same as you? it's something i have always wanted to own, "and resell" fast. However, its not a graded coin and i would be embarrassed to ship it for its bronze content, if you know what i mean

One sold at auction recently for only AU$11,000 in Melbourne, with a dinged rim etc. (panelbeater's) The rest of the 1930's Penny's at that same auction went for AU$70k, average sale price +/-. better coins of course, worth $70k considering an MS60+ is worth $100,000+, a gem $1 million.. that's big money!

Is their something special about that coin? I have a few pennies and half pennies from the twenties and thirties and have always wondered if I should get someone like downies to look at them.

Is that the only reason or is there the age factor and the fact they were circulated also?

I'm new to this numismatics and coins in general and I'm wondering what is the appeal to collecting this plain looking coin. It fascinates me allot I would like to know more..
