Does anyone ever get tempted to gamble or play the lottery?

When lotto or Powerball jackpots I usually buy a few tickets, why not? We spend so much money on other junk things that are just useless or thrown out soon after that a couple of bucks on lotto is ok. When Powerball hit a $150 Million first prize that was fun. If you are ever with a group of friends and you run out of things to talk about then talk about what you would do with a win. That will liven up the conversation for a while. Gambling, it's ok as long as you got a handle on it and don't blow your house on it.:)

I gamble once a week, currently on the A-league, NRL in winter. I haven't needed to put money in for a couple of years so it is quite enjoyable. Similarly, I haven't taken money out either. I am perfecting a new system at the moment and should this week's results be as expected, I might consider raising the ante.

i make the donation when there are no ToTo winners on their 4th game, after snowball to $8 millions prize
its a $7 donation, raise the amount 3 folds on payday

I never been a gambler. My wife buys a ticket now and then and it pisses me off.
Shes not good with math and doesnt understand the reality of it.

I know that in a casino you can win, but not earn. I'm not a very gambler, but I recently read an article on how to hit jackpot in EGT and it makes me think about trying to play in a casino for real money. All that stops me is that from real money games I only played poker with my college friends. I know that it’s difficult to win a large sum of money in a casino, but I’m really interested in how much it depends on the case or is there any additional software for such games that can be hacked / calculated strategy?

I had one friend who made enough money only playing online poker - maybe 6+ hours a day at ~$80k a year.
His summary

- You need to play all the time even if you do not feel like it
- to make money you are not playing enjoyable games and mostly looking for tables of thrill gamblers who are giving the money away
- the skill jump from good to great is insane
- after a few years he didn’t want to play anymore, realised online gambling doesn’t provide healthy relationships like regular work and he struggled to find a job afterwards because he lost exposure relevance in his previous field.

so I guess it’s what you make of it, you might have a handful of fun high stakes games a year and the rest sounds pretty shitty to me. That said, some people make much more money than that and probably create a much more sustainable network of friends and gamers.

I put 1 or 2 dollars in a pokies every few months as a way to prove to myself that pokies are stupid. other than that the only.bet I've ever placed was on Trump to win the last US election, I put a bet on with a bookie at 5/1, and a bet on here with a member on here for a 10oz bar either way, I should have negotiated better odds :p
I've got 60 bucks on Clinton to be the democratic nominee, and am considering putting a bit more into that and some on California going Republican long shot, but $50 cant hurt, and if any of that wins, put it on Trump in the general, but wait for the right moment, there will be a time close to the election when the news, bookies and all are claiming Clinton is a shoe in, repeat of 2016, ClintonVsTrump Round 2!
Well, that's my prediction for what it's worth. I'm not sure enough to put a significant amount on, but fun for a small punt.

I’m currently collating my horse racing bets carefully. My selection methodology has given me a nice little profit over the past 24 months or so, I haven’t kept adequate records though, merely adding up the balances in my various accounts to know I’m ahead.

I’ve got to have the hard evidence though in order to convince myself I can make a go at this by way of a part time job. I’m thinking if I can bet $1000/week and if past performance is any guide I’m hoping I can earn $300-$400 per week. I don’t have that hard evidence though as I take regular breaks from it and haven’t kept an accurate spreadsheet. And I haven’t been consistently punting 52 weeks in the year. At $1000 per week in my current number of bets I’d need a bank of $10000. And the nerve to go with it - my worst losing sequence has been 9 races without a return. I’m sure I’ve got a 20 or 25 run losing sequence in me, or alternatively I could lose the lot which means I’ve just been lucky this last 2 years. I’m turning over about $200 - $300 currently per week in bets.

lol.
Then I put 4k on Trump after election day haha, I still stand by he won, and the on going Audits, now with 2 more states joining, the fraud will be proven when the results of that come out.
The bet will never get paid out, it's money gone, but I was right. So that's some thing.

Spoken like a true stacker..... sunk some serious cash into the punt some time ago, have yet to be paid out with others on the contrary side cashing in all around you, but still clinging on to a conspiracy theory that insists you are right and will one day be proven. :p
(disclosure: I also put money on Trump, but have accepted that if it didn't pay, I didn't win ;)).
