Silver apart from gold, it is the most malleable (bendable) and ductile (it can be stretchable) of all metals.

You can draw a 45km strand of wire from 1 ozt of pure silver. Pretty cool ha !

Did you know....
We have about 5km of elastic from a failed business venture at home. I live 31km from work and theoretically could tie the elastic to the house and towbar and still be connected when i arrive at work....
Useless trivia that.

Did you know that the nose mucous from a sub-species of the Indian elephant, located in Sri Lanka, is so viscous and elastic that some parasitic spiders, use it in making their webs in hard times when their own nutrition does not allow them to be able to make enough of their own web silk.

Thats ok - they did too. The banking system is the greatest BS story ever told.

Did you know that one of the best books I have come across about things you should know is Bill Bryson's "A Short History of Nearly Everything"?

Publishers Weekly (writes) "This is a book about how it happened," the author writes. "In particular how we went from there being nothing at all to there being something, and then how a little of that something turned into us, and also what happened in between and since." What follows is a brick of a volume summarizing moments both great and curious in the history of science, covering already well-trod territory in the fields of cosmology, astronomy, paleontology, geology, chemistry, physics and so on.

Its ok. IMHO written for kids/early teens. Better book (in this spectrum) being Forbidden Archeology. Now THATS a book.
Got through it years ago, still one of the best books out there. Period.

It does look like a book worth reading, thanks aengrod. Still, I can recommend Bryson's book, highly entertaining, and something you can read on the train before work without screwing with your head and impairing your productivity.

"IMHO written for kids/early teens"- bit like the daily papers ;)

Didnt mean to offend you, just that the simplicity of the language, forms and examples that were used in it could be easily understood by lets say 10 yo kid. Thats all :P

Besides papers are just a tool of propaganda, what else to expect of them? True Journalism these days is almost non-existent.

Did you Know that a FACT is a microscopic organism that lives at the bottom of the Ocean and feeds on pregnant Lobsters Flatulence?

Did you know a merchant can actually refuse to take your coins for payment of goods and can insist on another combination of coins/notes for payment? For example if you go into a shop and buy a letterbox for $35 and hand over 35 $1 coins the seller can say No and ask for payment in larger denominations.

Yup - and you can hand over a $100 note and they are obligated to accept it. Coins are subject to limits

check out "calgaro" a jeweller from Italy, they make necklaces and bracelets out of woven super thin strands of silver and gold. Look like fabric but they're sterling silver.

here's an example..
