Did 1937 Crowns Increase in Value Recently?

I have been noticing a trend the last 6 months... junk and pre decimal silver has been increasing as silver spot has been staying low.. this is logical as these are antique coins with scarcity and numismatic interest .. in a way antique silver is like silver itself.. (Industrial & Monetary metal!) its silver, its an antqiue and its numismatic.

Anyway .. i think $50 + for that Heavily Circ'ed 1937 Crown is complete madness.. but if thats thegoing market value.. then woo-who..

Im only selling janky silver antique numi on ebay from now on.. seems like most bidders arent at all fussy about grades.. lol

I want to know what the going rate is for crowns at the moment.
A guy at work has one on his bookshelf so i was going to offer to buy it from him.

I don't get on ebay etc after work these days, too much hassle where i live.

I just saw that spot crowns are circa $18 but what do they sell for?

I dont think much more than that..if its a 1938,thats a different story...
 
Crowns were always expensive, I remember when their silver value was $28 they were selling for $40+. And selling quite quickly as well.

I bought a few and they are nice, better than the 50% junk silver, decent size but I haven't managed to get any at a bargain price. I would love to get them at spot, even if they were banged up a bit.
 
Thanks, I also remember buying mine for $40 and the 1938's for $140.

I realise that spot is wishful thinking, i don't want to annoy this guy if he finds out what they are worth later on... i like to keep him on my side as an ally.

I'm happy with $35 i guess and is around what i was expecting.

My rule of thumb is $5 over spot for VF or so. Most mine were purchased from IS Wright for around $25 when spot was $20 (2009) -- having siad this i was getting great deals as many were higher grade and i got to choose the ones i purchased from a bulk bin.

I think now (as per the original post) i would call $35 par ($13 over spot) hence the premium over spot looks to have increased... or it may just be that when spot moved up and took the 1937 up with it, it has been far slow to respond to the price reversal (lmao -- like the PM numismatics dept RRP's)

1938s - $120 + -- without an obvious orb *(upside down T) they should not exceed $250 yet.

But you are in Melbourne and don't like to post so it's not much good for us non Melbournians. Thanks for the price indication though.
