Opals are in a massive bearish market.. i dont see any demand for these internationally so stay clear ...

Interesting to hear this. When did the sentiment turn? And what caused the change in sentiment?

Please advise. Thanks.

In the last 10 years, the only people who buy opals are Japanese
tourists ,I know 1 bloke who wholesales them in Melbourne
his having a hard time making a $

Hi, i basically stated all i know in terms of concrete facts.. During the japanese financail bubble up until 91 Opals were HUGE

The rest is intangible.. what drives consumer decisons? The people who WERE buying opals previously i know longer doing so.. maybe they are buying pearls now.. or maybe silver and gold.. or maybe they dont have the same level of disposable income.

Me personally. I have tried selling opals but have found them to be unpopular. I only have lower priced opals but they dont generate much interest online.

But as always, current and past trends may not have a bearing on future patterns so could be a good time to accummulate.. be a contrarion investor and buy when a commodity is NOT HOT.

The Greeks think opals are unlucky, not that they are doing much buying of anything at the moment. No idea why, I only have my wife to go on and apparently they also think if a toad spits on you, you get warts... not the most reliable indicator.
