Desirability: 1/2 oz Lunar silver bars vs. the 1/2 oz Rounds

I really like the 1/2 oz lunars for some reason and I'm thinking about grabbing some APMEX year of the 2013 snake bars and the 2014 horse bars. BTW - I just purchased my first 1/2 oz (SII) PM horse and it's a fantastic round. Also, have an APMEX 1/2 oz snake coming to me in a day or two.;)
 
Check out sales for any lunars in your country that are a few years old or in europe. Season 2 ones go for 20+ not bad when you can get them for 16 where I'm at now. I think horses will be a winner.

If you use ebay, you should be able to get the .5oz 2010 tiger, 2011 rabbit and 2012 dragon pm coins fairly easily. Dragon was mass produced and I have seen the other two fairly regularly. I think the 2008 mouse and ox are more scarce, but I don't follow the pm coins other than the 1oz gold and silver. However, when I search for the 1oz coins on ebay, the .5oz coins show up in my ebay searches.

Probably doesn't matter to you, but the pm lunars are coins, not rounds, as they have been minted by a government and have a face value.
 
Thanks for the education. I'm still wet behind the ears as you can tell. I did not realize that the PM Lunars had face value. This makes me like the horse I purchased even more.
 
well make it gold then, it would be too big :lol:

those halving may not be cute, get some older hand poured, that would be special :) but the price is not tasty
 
The reason I ask the question is I've looked around on ebay and APMEX. It seems like the 1/2 oz silver Lunar coins and rounds go quickly and their value as a collectable increases fairly quickly. (Quickly meaning a 1 or 2 years)
