Couldn't you argue that the denomination of the coin and the design itself is a characteristic mark? I accept it as identifying and guaranteeing its fineness and quality as much as if they stamped 1oz .999999 PURE SILVER, and surely the millions of buyers for the coin that there will be without any 1oz .999 silver stated on the coin, regardless of if they were to pay GST on it, are also proof that they are accepting this mark as a guarantee that it will be 1oz of silver.

Only a private ruling from the ATO could determine this. "Arguing" with the ATO on GST matters doesn't get you far :) If a dealer was determined to have been selling these without GST incorrectly, and was assessed the GST, the GST bill will likely be higher than the profit margin - especially if a penalty is also assessed. Not worth the business risk.

Anyone know what date these coins are released...I can't wait to get my hands on a sheet or two and some loose coins to examine.

I made the mistake of buying all my 2014's from one dealers stock and later realized another dealers batch were much higher luster. Mine are dull 68's & 69's & his are flashy 70's.
