Movies and TV are an excellent way of learning about the USA.

I learned all I need to know about Australia by watching Kath and Kim.

Kath & Kim - A most regretable TV programme. I can't watch it - I know people who act exactly like the cast! The financial system could go to hell in a handbasket and they'd just motor along, complacent, with nary a care in the world.

its all debt, thats where problem primary is.If central banks lend at total of 1000 and want 1040 back(4%interest),its impossible due to only a 1000 out there in the system.ALL central banks throughout history default. That why jewish system in biblical times had debt forgivness every 50 years(called jubalee year). Those greedy central bankers always increase money supply greater than population growth.Become yor own central banker, buy metal, remember return of money more important than return on money

So when was last jubalee year? 1962?

from what i have gathered observing the jubilee seems to have fallen out of favour and calculations are controversial - some sources suggest around 2015 - 2017

Only time will tell but I think it will be sooner than that.

Unfortunate thing about documentaries - uncomfortably accurate. Lets hope they don't do an episode where K&K start buying silver! Then everyone would start, the price would skyrocket and I haven't stacked anywhere near enough yet!!! :-)

BTW - how much is"enough"????

http://goldsilver.com/news/the-1-billion-armageddon-trade-placed-against-the-united-states/

Someone dropped a bomb on the bond market Thursday a $1 billion Armageddon trade betting the United States will lose its AAA credit rating.

Heres an interesting response the the article?

I am a futures broker. This is a big trade to put on at once, but trades of these size happen many times a day in US Treasury Futures. The value of the contracts at the time of execution is about $1.1 billion, that would be the max profit if they sold them and if treasuries went to zero which has no chance of happening. The trade only cost $18.6 MILLION to put on (margin) there are ten of thousands of traders, funds, institutions that would be able to put this trade on. There is also no way of knowing why this was put on, this article is a load of BS. Jack Barnes is either being purposely misleading or has no idea what he is talking about, I am not sure which is worse.

The realism of the K and K characters multiplied by thousands and thousands is the great heartland of Australia, the voters who can be bought off with a hand full of election promise dollars, and who will mindlessly repeat populist slogans. It shows the reality of the insularity and mundaneness of suburban Australia. The irony of real life "Kath and Kim" characters celebrating their likeness to the characters is all the more depressing. I find the Chris Lilley characterisations similarly depressing, but let's put the blame where it lies - a constant dumbing down of the population by 'nanny' state mind control and endless cuts to education budgets.

Not to mention water fluoridation.

"Like liquid gets into chalk"

But what of the US default? Will they raise the ceiling or not? Will they cure their debt problems with more debt?

Here's an interest tidbit from Jason Hommel today
. . . A government is instantly subverted and overthrown the instant it goes into debt. Why?
Because a government in debt serves the lender, rather than serving the people.
A government in debt has a conflict of interest!
Anyone loaning money to the government should actually be guilty of treason, for having successfully overthrown and subverted the national interest of serving the people, first.

Although, perhaps it is the ministers and officials who are responsible for subverting the national interest and our freedoms by indebting a nation to foreign powers, be they sovereign or corporate.

14000000000000. Want a trillion reasons to lend more yeah why not...what's another trillion or 2 ...or 3...in the long run if default doesn't happen (and we all know it won't ) ....it will only come back to haunt them...you can run but you can't hide....
