Deciding what to buy...

Hi guys,

Hi guys I'm looking at making a purchase of some more silver and I'm trying to decide what to get.

I prefer to buy whatever is the cheapest per ounce so I've been considering getting either some stackers or coins.

The Maples are a nice coin and currently work out to be around $27.5 if you buy in bulk.

However the Scottsdale 1 oz stackers are a nice little bar and represent great value for money and they are easy to stack and store and being the size that they are one would assume that these would be a more logical choice than their 10oz counterparts.

I guess its a choice of buying for the value of the silver or the conductibility but at the end of the day, what is generally the easiest to sell?

What do you seasoned collectors prefer out of these?

Thanks in advance...

Hello!

Well depends on your goals and personal preferences.

I mostly buy what I like. Don't like to have something at home that don't like. There is just too many beautiful coins and bars out there which could buy, instead of some "ugly" things I buy just to make money.

Between picking 1oz Maple Leaf or Scottsdale 1 oz 2013 Niue 2$ (coin)bar I would take second any time, any day. It has lower mintage and lion makes is somehow "majestic". Maple Leafs are nice as well but have mintage in millions, whereas Lion mintage is not so big - 350 000.

But as I've said. Buy what you think you like more / you think will grow more. :)

It's gamble. ;)

It depends who you plan to sell to.

If you plan to sell back to a dealer, then blobs (non-denom bars) are fine. Dealer will pay you below spot if he is willing to pay for that blob at all. There's a reason why some pay a high(er) premium on a variety of coins....because the person believes that when it comes time to sell, that coin will be a better bet than some run-of-the-mill blob. Maples are widely recognizable and quite collectable and so you would probably not have a prob reselling to either a dealer or another stacker (or even a collector).

Personally, most of my stack is in coins rather than blobs. I have some nice rounds that I paid a little extra premium for but I'm cool with that. Here's what one of my favorite rounds looks like (classic US coin design) http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-OUNCE-999...pt=US_Bullion_Bars_Rounds&hash=item51afc70c14

In the end, it may not matter all that much whether you buy a minted in the tens of millions Maple leaf or a non-denom blob or round. The value prob won't increase at a different rate for these products. Don't forget to account for shipping costs and taxes if that applies.

I like my blobs :)

and to be fair when the price kicks off (when I plan to sell) the % net gain I'll make compared to any price premium higher quality bars & coins demand 'should' be negligible.

Remember when the price was up near $50/oz...people were lining up for whatever they could get their grubby little mits on :P

and that's not even a bubble price

That $50 oz was before my time....I came in when it was hovering around $37 and then within a few months the beautiful bear was in the campsite clearing the way for some excellent buying opportunities. I love that 2013 bear. :)

.

There were 2 big runs on silver after 2008...both times new investors came rushing in buying up everything they could.

For all intents and purposes in the (retail sector) there were "shortages" of physical (n.b. IN THE RETAIL SECTOR) during those 'runs', classical premiums went out the window and a new premium came in where-by buyers were paying a premium just to take physical delivery... regardless of the format it was in.

Whats "Scottsdale 1 oz stackers" where can you buy them from ?

I am also interested to learn more about this...what are these 1oz Stackers I have only seen the 10oz and larger stackers.

These sound like my cup of tea on the bullion side.

To the OP,

buy what you like...if you only care about weight go for 1oz, 5oz, or 10oz Bars.

I like ASE's, Maples, Libertads for run of the mill coins.

Libertads being at the top of the common bullion coin list due to tits on a silver coin...how can you beat that!

I suspect the OP is referring to Scottsdale "The One" bars, and incorrectly called them "stackers"?

American Silver Eagles 1oz Silver coins of any year move lot hot cakes if you get them for the right price. Arguably the most recognized silver coin on the market, and has been for years. You don't necessarily have to buy in bulk to get the wholesale prices.... https://www.bullionfoundry.com/howitworks.php

The question is: is it a good enough reason to inject your ads in the every other thread?

I am actualy just answering the original question about what seasoned stackers prefer to buy, and letting Gigrantor know that Pinkman White have this particular product on offer for wholesale prices without spending wholesale dollars.

This forum is about open shared communication about bullion - where to buy, what to buy, when to buy, etc

My comment forfils everything that this forum is about - sharing information to other traders that they might find useful.
