Come back in a few weeks time when the hype for this is a fraction less and everyone is chasing the next dragon bonanza, which I believe will be the 10 coloured set.
People who only got 1, or who had a cool lucky number will want their full $500 or whatever before they part with it, the dealers who got 10-20? will try for $500 because they don't want to sell too cheap. If there are any left they will come down in increments until they are all gone.
The Dealers know these things are rubbish, just bullion coins with a bit of paint and some fancy cardboard. last thing they need is to be left with half a dozen sitting on the shelf once the hype is over. Then they may revert back to normal bullion status.
The tigers may be doing well but you need to have serious money to try and complete a set. Add in to that, the difficulty in getting hold of one at a reasonable price, even if you live in Perth, attend the ANDA show and queue at 07:30 and wait in line for a few hours you are not guaranteed to get one.
I think a few people were very dissapointed with the Perth Mint this time, maybe they would go through all this again for a snake, but would you put yourself through this for a goat, or a cow?
In order for the Perth Mint to make more money and appease all the people who got left out they will have to increase the mintage, or at least, put more of them in boxes. this may kill off the value of the earlier releases, or may increase them.
All in all I think that the perth mint have done a great job making Dragons, but a poor job getting them into the hands of the people who want them. They have probably made a lot of money as well.
