Copper/Brass medals cast by the Shanghai Mint..

The plated and gilt version are not catalogued in CGCI catalog. Only the silver version is included.

Also bear in mind many of the plated and gilt version were done in 1990s, whereas the silver was minted in 1980s. Some (or many) of the plated version of 1984 gold fish were produced in 1990s. Mintage? Who knows!

BRASS...(if you can find them)

Yes, go to China! You probably will laugh at the price when you find one!

just receive ^_^

will take the HD photo later....

Interesring auction for a China 2011 Xi Shi Pearl & Dragon 80 mm Copper Medal NGC MS68. Item# 160848319704.
As pointed out earlier in this thread, the medal was minted by a private mint. It is interesting that NGC now grade these privately minted medals. What is the cirteria? What medals will they grade? what medals will not be graded? Or is it just a case of NGC grading anything to get more money. I sent quite a few emails asking NGC but still have not heard back from them.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I have found out that The China 2011 Xi Shi Pearl & Dragon 80 mm Copper Medal is minted by the Shanghai Brilliance Extension Medal Factory which is owned by the Shanghai Mint.

Hi cepe6po ... I may be incorrect but it was my understanding that the medal had to be minted at either Shenyang, Shanghai or Shenzen Guobao mint in order to be authenticated/graded by NGC.

Could be wrong as I'm not and "expert" :D
