Looks like the red welsh dragons are already sold out on the Perth Mint website. Is that a good sign that they might go up in value? Also the opal koalas are all gone. Sold out on the Downies website also.

They were sold out within 24 hours at Perth Mint website, I've been told that's a good thing.

I recommend keeping away from all inlay and chip opal. The "Treasures of Australia" series that contains opal is still the best as it is solid opals.
Watch, in 5 years time owners of those Opal Koalas will be creating hate blogs, posts and threads online, complaining and asking questions why their Opal Koalas are falling apart and epic failures.

Colored coins are ugly, paying 107 dollars for an oz of silver cuz it has a dragon on it is for suckers. Hey if you lucked out and got lunar dragons for a good price all the power to you but there are so many variations of the dragon coin/design/bar all minted by companies hoping to cash in on premiums while we snatch them up like sheep with our hard earned dollars.
Maybe I'm just bitter but numis are a dangerous game investing in silver is risky enough without adding the hope that your item will be popular in the future. Anyone who tells you anything else is just trying to sell you coins cough cough (yennus) cough.
 
I think you're a little off there, or gave a bad example at least. PM lunar dragons will only appreciate in value, the problem people have is they're always after an instant profit and that very rarely happens. If you buy these coins and just forget about them for a year or 2 then you can only win at the end of the day.

In the case of the 'dragons of legend series' I think the first will do really well but i'm less optimistic about the rest.
 
I like the coin but for the price youd better.. i totally agree with Sargeant Argent that buying these types of coins are a well dangerous investment if your planning on selling these at a profit.. far higher chance ill be picking these up at closer to spot then above the RRP.

Even the lunar dragons.. given the variety and MASSIVE intro price by the perth mint.. id say largely these puppies will be a mud investment.. as much as i love dragons.. these may be the exception but looking at all the other PM coloured mud you could hardly say the trend is up.

im with you Sargeant Argent, buying these $107 coins is a sure sign you have to much money or your not in it for an investment.. your more of a collector that values beauty over a prudent financial investment.

Each to their own and time will tell.

Green won't stand out as well as red..
I reckon they will look great in 2oz of maybe 5oz sizes.. seems like too much detail for 1oz?

I don't think it is even too much detail, but the green does wash out...the first one is stellar though-hard to live up to I guess, don't see making sets now, seems like a waste--JMHO
 
Has anyone actually seen the welsh dragon yet ? Is it a nice looking coin? Some of the color versions I think look real nice and have increased quite a bit in price , some are ugly as hell and have decreased in price . It is hard to tell what the coin looks like until you see it in person or a really good photo not a computer generated render. I was really shocked when I saw the 1/0 th oz colored gold dragon luckily it is the only one I bought it looks almost pink with little lines in the enamel or paint , does anyone like that one , I have not seen any comments here and some people just hate all color coins but that one really suprised me .
 
Although sold out on Perth Mint, the coin is still being sold at issue price by a dealer on this forum and on eBay. It'll be interesting to see if there's enough demand to push the price up.
